Aunt May Parker (Marvel Comics)
Some people by nature are kind and charitable. You could say that some people, including at least one person at this table, are by their nature heroes. Ben always reminded me that we each contain all the nobler and meaner aspects of humanity, but some get a bigger dose than others of one thing or another. Some are pretty, and mean, and uncharitable. That's their nature. You can hope for better, even try to lead them to better, and you may even succeed.

May Parker (née Reilly), commonly known as Aunt May, is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly in association with the superhero Spider-Man. Making her first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 (August 1962), the character was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. The character plays an influential role in the Spider-Man comic books.

May is married to Ben Parker and is the paternal aunt of Peter Parker, who leads a secret life as Spider-Man. She is nurturing and supportive of Peter as a mother figure, although throughout most of Spider-Man's history, she has not known of his secret life and considered Spider-Man frightening. In modern renditions, May has been known to support the hero, and in rare cases is aware that he is her nephew, or at least suspecting his identity as Peter. Later in life, she marries J. Jonah Jameson Sr., the estranged father of Peter's boss and Spider-Man's harshest critic J. Jonah Jameson, essentially making him her step-son and by extension Peter's step-cousin, much to Jameson's discomfort.

Since her conception, the character has appeared in various media adaptations of Spider-Man, often playing a supporting role. Aunt May was portrayed by Rosemary Harris in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, Sally Field in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man duology, and Marisa Tomei in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. The character was voiced by Lily Tomlin in the 2018 animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Iago PUC's ideas[]

  • Aunt May appears in the continuity of Marvel's Spider-Man: Webbed Champion, voiced by Nancy Linari. Starting out with the same story as in the canon version of Marvel's Spider-Man Season 1 to Season 2 episode "Between Ock and a Hard Place", she is revealed in "On the Tiger's Claws" to have learned of her nephew Peter's secret life as Spider-Man, and expressed support for it. She also approves Peter's relationship with Mary Jane Watson (whom she has also been aware to be the human form and identity of Tigra). In "City of Heroes, Part 4: More Than Human", she is shown to have taken a job at F.E.A.S.T. as a nurse and cook. In the "Family Business" arc episode "The Parker Errand", Aunt May is shown attending to J. Jonah Jameson's trial as a prosecutor witness out of protest for Jameson having endangered Peter by sending Venom and Scorpion after him. Later, after Spider-Man, Mockingbird and She-Hulk expose Jameson's involvement with the murders of Peter's parents (which he covered as an accident for protection money), Aunt May (angry that Jameson lied about her sister Mary's death) is shown slapping Jameson's face while he is declared guilty, and given a life sentence in prison, while Aunt May is comforted by Kamala Khan, Mockingbird and She-Hulk, thanking the latter two for helping Peter find the truth. In "Sons of Fathers", she is shown being visited by Max Modell and Shang-Chi, who give her company after Peter discovered the identity of Stormranger (who turned out to be Peter's long lost sister Teresa Parker). Later after Harry Osborn discovers his true identity of Harry Lyman, Aunt May expresses her support over Peter's objective to finish what his parents started and wishes him luck, while also pleading for him to bring Teresa home once he is done. She later makes a silent appearance in next episode "Seeds of Life", welcoming Teresa home in open arms and tears of joy. In the next episode "Brand New Champions", Aunt May is shown wishing Teresa good luck on her first day at Bilderberg Academy. In "Mother Focus", Aunt May is assigned to nurse Gwen Stacy's mother Helen in the City Hospital after Helen is retrieved from the Quantum Realm. In the following episode "Road to the Legendary Universes", she has a conversation with Mary Jane about Helen's good condition, before planing to invite Helen for a tea time with Mary Jane’s aunt Anna and bring Teresa for a play-date with Mary Jane's half-sister Nadia, and Mary Jane encounters the toddler Groot. In the finale "Legendary Universes, Part 6: Ultimate Alliance", Aunt May is with her fellow employees at F.E.A.S.T., consolidating their clients while the superheroes battle the Regent's army. In the end of the episode, she visits the graves of Richard, Mary, and Ben, and makes her good compliments with Peter, claiming that his parents and uncle would be proud of what he became.
    • Aunt May also appears in the show's tie-in comic book series Princesses of Destiny.
    • Aunt May returns in the show's Disney+ sequel miniseries Marvel's Spider-Man: Rising Legend, voiced again by Nancy Linari.
    • Aunt May also appears in A Marvel Christmas Carol, voiced again by Nancy Linari. She is first shown phoning Peter about the preparations for the Christmas party (which will also be attended by Aunt May's daughter and Peter's older cousin Jessica), while Gwen Stacy and Anya Corazon help her decide what Teresa should wear in the party. She is later shown during Peter's act as the Ghost of Christmas Present enjoying the party with Peter, Teresa, and Jessica. Also, during Cloak's act as the Ghost of Christmas Yet-to-come/Future, she is shown among the citizens watching as Hulk and Rocket carry the coffin of Franklin Todd away, while urging Teresa not to look at it. Later in the end of the film, she is shown watching happily as Peter and Mary Jane Watson kiss under a mistletoe created by Groot.
    • Aunt May returns in Marvel's Superhero Adventures: Infinity War, voiced again by Nancy Linari.
    • Aunt May returns in Marvel's All-Star Multiverse, with Linari reprising her role. She first makes minor appearances in the Free Adventures short series, starting with “A Long Road Ahead”, where she and Mary Jane’s aunt Anna and Peter's dog Buster go for a vacation in Mexico, while Peter and his friends enjoy their world road trip. Throughout the shorts, Peter and his friends mention receiving mails from Aunt May about her time in Mexico. In “Down Under”, Aunt May and Buster return home at the same time as Peter and his siblings Teresa and Ben, who tell Aunt May more about their trip. Aunt May later appears as a supporting character in the main show's episodes, starting with "Return of the Legends", where she helps Peter and his friends look after the Avengers' children in Horizon Star, while the Avengers and the Fantastic Four go with Peter's partners from the Legendary Universes (Rey Skywalker, Sonic the Hedgehog, Leonardo, and Optimus Prime) stop Thane.
  • Aunt May is a supporting character in Marvel: All New, All Different Chronicles, voiced by Jennifer Hale, and visually based on Marisa Tomei's character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  • Aunt May appears in Comic Con Incorporated. One of the managers and employees in the titular fictional hotel, she works as the spa's nurse, with Beth as her assistant.
  • Aunt May appears as a NPC in Marvel Superhero Adventures: Intergalactic Grand Prix, voiced again by Misty Lee. She is seen in the background of the "Midtown Speedway" track, and appears in the Story Mode's cutscenes.
