Donkey Kong (or extensively Donkey Kong Country) is a American fantasy adventure film directed and produced by Jon Favreau, produced by Nintendo, and written by Justin Marks. Based on the eponymous Nintendo video game franchise and inspired by the 1998 television series of the same name.
The film required extensive use of computer-generated imagery to portray the animals and settings.
Plot[]
In 1981, a escaped captive gorilla climbs a pair of ladders to the top of a construction site, with a unnamed woman in hand. He sets the woman down and stomps his feet, causing the steel beams to change shape and catching the attention of a carpenter who was pursuing them. To evade capture, the gorilla begins throwing barrels that set off fireballs, but it fails to slow the carpenter.
The gorilla is mortally injured by the carpenter, and gazes at the woman for the last time before falling from the building. As the two reconcile, the gorilla fearfully flees from the site and from the city, stowing away on a boat to an uncharted island.

- Richard Yearwood as Donkey Kong III, a bumbling yet powerful gorilla and the future ruler of Donkey Kong Island. His singing voice was provided by Sterling Jarvis.

- Brian Doyle-Murray as Cranky Kong, Donkey Kong's crabby constantly complaining and rambling grandfather, usually acting as a guide for Donkey and Diddy.
- Joy Tanner as Candy Kong, one of the members of the Kong Family and one of Donkey Kong's closest friends. Tanner reprises her role from the television show.
- Andy Serkis as King K. Rool, The vicious, malevolent ruler of the Kremling race, the head of the Kremling Krew who constantly terrorize the Kongs, and the arch-nemesis of Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. K. Rool has repeatedly tried to steal Donkey and Diddy Kong's Banana Hoard for reasons that aren't fully understood.
- Serkis also provided motion capture.
- Johnny Knoxville as Funky Kong, Donkey Kong's free-spirited cousin and an ally to the Kongs, offering services such as transportation and weaponry.
Additionally, Danny DeVito makes a cameo appearance as Mario during the flashback sequence.
