Disney is an 2021 American animated comedy slapstick action film directed by Brad Bird and produced by Bird, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and Teddy Newton. The film is a story of Walt Disney's popular Disney characters such as his popular creation, Mickey Mouse. The film stars Nolan North as the title character and Bret Iwan as Mickey with Emma Stone and Julia Butters
The film takes place in 1948, one year after Disney stopped voicing Mickey and then handed the role to Disney sound effects artist Jimmy MacDonald. Disney lives with his wife Lillian and daughter Diane. He then finds out that his Disney characters can come to live and need help from Walt to stop monsters called The Monders from destroying their planet called DisneyPlanet.
The film released on June 13, 2021 in Dolby Cinema. The critics praised the film for it's acting, animation, and characters while it was critically acclaimed for it's backgrounds.
Synopsis[]
"Walt Disney gives out an world of imagination with various Disney characters. Living in a household with his wife Lillian Bounds and daughter Diane, he finds out that his characters from various Disney productions can come to live from a planet called DisneyPlanet. His main mascot and famous character Mickey Mouse needs help from Walt in order to stop a group of monsters called The Monders, from destroying their planet into madness." -Director Brad Bird announcing the film's synopsis.
Plot[]
The film starts with Walter Elias Disney's backstory and how he created Mickey Mouse, which would evolve as his future studio's mascot. In 1948, Walt Disney has moved on from voicing Mickey and has now raised his 14-year old daughter Diane and his wife Lillian.
Disney Sound effects artist Jimmy MacDonald now voices Mickey. Meanwhile, in a planet called DisneyPlanet, it stars all of the Disney characters including Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. They then get their planet invaded by a group of monsters known as: the Monders. Their leader, Zook, plans to get rid of all of the Disney characters and destroy their planet. With their planet and lives on the hook, Donald suggests that they go and get their creator, Walt. They then get Mickey, Oswald, and Goofy to go get Walt.
After Walt tucks in Diane to sleep, he hears a noise in his bedroom. He then meets Oswald, who then faints seeing that he sees Oswald, in the flesh, with Oswald knowing that he knocked out Disney. Mickey, Goofy, and Oswald then take Walt to their world where Walt then wakes up in a chair. Mickey explains to Walt that the Monders including their leader Zook want to destroy their planet. Walt, knowing that he loves his characters, then takes then in his house and keeps them a secret from Diane and Lillian.
In Walt's bedroom, Donald complains that there are not enough duck plushies until Lillian knocks on the door, telling Walt to brush his teeth because she is making breakfast. Walt then hides the characters under his bed and goes to eat his breakfast. But Walt then realizes one thing; he needs to take Diane to school. Walt tells the Disney characters to wait here while he takes Diane to school. Meanwhile, the Disney characters mess in his bedroom. Zook calls them and tells them that he will destroy their planet in one day. Mickey and Donald tell Zook that Walt will help them stop Zook from destroying their planet, but Zook doubts it.
After Walt is finished dropping off Diane to school, he meets Donald, who tells him that they need to start training to fight Zook and the Monders. The training then starts, but a few things go wrong. Daisy takes it too seriously, Oswald doesn't know what to do, Mickey doesn't want to hurt anybody, and Minnie is drinking coffee, which makes her go crazy. But in the end, they complete their training, which was great. Walt then puts the Disney characters under his bed at night and says good night to Lillian and Diane and then goes to bed.
At the DisneyPlanet, they battle the Monders. Despite getting beaten in the first and second round, Walt encourages the characters to win. Going out in the final round, they do their stuff. Minnie drinks coffee to make herself go crazy so she can dunk the ball in the hoop. Daisy takes it too seriously and passes it to Donald who stomps on the Monders heads and throws the ball in the hoop. This makes Zook spit out his water and clean his glasses in shock, knowing that he never signed up for basketball.
Goofy uses his goofiness to throw the ball in the hoop while Oswald uses his luckiness to also throw the ball in the hoop. The Monders then surrender including Zook, who later gets arrested to PrisonDisney. Walt then says goodbye to the characters before leaving to his house to spend time with Lillian and Diane.
