Disaster Masters is an American hero shooter video game developed with the unique mechanic of each stage having a different natural disaster going on which affects gameplay.

Synopsis[]

Set in an alternate version of our world, natural disasters have become more and more dangerous and common as mercenaries known as Disaster Masters enter areas filled with disasters for many dangerous tasks and goals. The game has both unlockable stories and playable mini chapters which explains lore and connections to each playable Disaster Master as well as being built using preexisting arenas and game modes to tell unique stories without having to make new assets or game modes exclusive to Mini Missions.

Playable[]

Blitzers[]

These are agile Disaster Masters who are focused on speed and/or stealth and long range.

Launch[]

  • The Phantasm (voiced by Troy Baker) - a mysterious and cynical mercenary and assassin who keeps everything about himself a secret as he changes his affiliations and sides on the flip of a dime as he is quite shadowy and claims to be the best sniper out of all of the Disaster Masters, keeping his true affiliations close to his chest.
  • Kimiko Shimura/Ronin (voiced by Alpha Takahashi) - a gruff and rebellious heir to the global criminal organization known as the Golden Grasp as she doesn't want anything to do with it, becoming a fugitive to her own family as she steals a cybernetic exosuit that allows her to teleport and use a mechanical blade, becoming a Disaster Master to find a way to take down the Golden Grasp.
  • Delilah Schmidt/Cheetah (voiced by Erica Lindbeck) - a danger-loving yet honorable professional thief and mercenary who steals valuable gems and other treasures for herself and those in need, as she sports a suit with cat-like attributes as she works as a mercenary and vigilante due to her having stolen from both ZeroTech and the Golden Grasp, becoming a villain to numerous groups just to help those she thinks truly cares for it.
  • Jack Broderick/Spider (voiced by Jason Marnocha) - a semi-silent and deadly as well as ruthless and heartless assassin who works for ZeroTech, as he sports a high-tech suit which allows him to fight and move like a spider and grants him camouflage, as he betrayed his brother in a bloody confrontation and now is willing to eliminate any threats to ZeroTech, even his own brother who is now rogue.
  • Vanessa Silverstein/Silverwing (voiced by Laura Bailey) - a former Air Force pilot who leads a group of former military soldiers in surviving the natural disasters which plagued the world, wearing a high-tech winged flight suit with bladed wings, becoming a Disaster Master in the battle for power, with her group having been invited to join the Golden Grasp, which she accepts, now leading the Golden Wings in combat against other factions, believing the Golden Grasp is the only way that the world could truly unite, being somewhat sadistic when it comes to her enemies.

  • Anubis (voiced by Keith Silverstein) - a hulking and monologuing android created by Gaia in order to help oversee and correct their experiments as he begins to see humans as a deeper evil than the disasters they are attempting to prevent as he becomes a terroristic force, operating in disasters to get materials he needs to kickstart the "Children of the Machine".
  • Rashawn Burnside/Maul (voiced by Khary Payton) - a brutish and short-tempered prison convict who was subjected to a serum which gave him the strength of a bear, as he soon escaped to fight the world by his own terms, becoming a Disaster Master and is in the debt of the Golden Grasp, serving them as the ultimate hunter and brute.
  • Buddy (voiced by Ashly Burch) - a gigantic and hulking but friendly and helpful android created by Gastro Solutions to help rescue innocents and face disasters head on as she is often sent on missions for Gastro Solutions to help others, being capable of firing out explosives meant to help clear pathways and can summon shields. Unlike other androids, she was treated well by her handlers at Gastro Solutions, causing her to see the bright side of humanity existing and due to it, being a moral antithesis to Anubis.

  • Winnie Valentine/Mirage (voiced by Abby Trott) - a chaotic yet intelligent mercenary for hire who has no real allegiances and dashes right into danger just for the thrill of it as she wields technology that allows her to create duplicates of herself, enjoying tricking others although it causes other Disaster Masters to find her to be annoying.
  • Mark Hams/Voltage (voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch) - a young and thrill-seeking scientist working for Gastro Solutions who developed a suit that makes him living electricity as he operates as a Disaster Master to learn how dangerous these disasters really are and how to find ways to prevent them, being friendly and willing to work with anyone, even more malicious foes.
  • Zack Broderick/Poisonous (voiced by Neil Newbon) - a calm and quite sympathetic mercenary who works for Gastro Solutions who was scarred by his older brother when he just started mercenary work as he truly attempts to be helpful and sees Gastro Solutions as the key to helping people, being capable of creating and using poisons to daze and confuse enemies as he fears his brother, seeing him as not a man but a monster.
  • Mimic (voiced by Cassandra Lee Morris) - an android that was initially created by ZeroTech to be used for combat simulations until she broke free and joined Anubis' Children of the Machine, fully believing in his belief that all humans are evil due to her constant attacks by them. Due to this, she becomes a Disaster Master, being capable of shapeshifting into other Disaster Masters for her Ultimate.

Gameplay[]

The game plays as a hero shooter as you pick one of multiple heroes who has their own unique firearm and three special powers, a passive and a needing to be charged ultimate. Each game has different modes but a core of it is killing your enemy teammates. A major part of the game is natural disasters which each stage has their own natural disaster which makes it more difficult. The game also has mini missions where you pick a character and go through a group of missions tied to them, with the missions being reskinned versions of game modes like Extraction or Deathmatch but fit in a way to give each character a story.

Game Modes[]

  • Extraction - one of the main modes of the game where two teams of five are dropped into one of the arenas and have to collect as much valuables as they can and drop them off in "Valuable Containers". If someone carrying valuables dies, the killer can grab it and make it worth even more.
  • Deathmatch - one of the main modes of the game where two teams of five compete against each other to see who can rack up the most kills of the other team with it having a five-minute time limit.
  • Escort - one of the main modes of the game where one team of five attempts to escort a payload through a map while the other tries to stop them from moving the payload as the match either ends when the time runs out or the first team brings the payload to its location.
  • Point Control - one of the main modes of the game where two teams of five compete against each other to take control of three checkpoints.
  • Horde Mode - one team of six work together to survive hordes of procedurally generated yet clearly increasing in difficulty AI enemies either until all six members die and lose all three respawns or until the time runs out.

Arenas[]

Launch[]

  • Fort Gaius - one of the bases of the slowly falling apart organization of Gaia which is located on the top of snow-covered mountains as snowstorms are common throughout the stage, being capable of blinding and confusing Disaster Masters.
  • The Farm - a giant farm developed by ZeroTech to help create artificial food thanks to the sudden rise of disasters as it is home to a few different missions and has giant tornadoes fly through the stage, causing Disaster Masters to have to battle in the air and inside tornadoes.
  • Sunken Downtown - the downtown area of Miami which has become a dangerous home to floods which flash through and cause fights to happen underwater in occasion, with slower controls, with Miami holding several valuables that many organizations need.
  • Factory 52 - one of several factories created by Gastro Solutions to help with food shortages as it produces food using new technology and is home to a bunch of earthquakes which can shatter the arena and cause debris to fall.
  • Toast Coast - the city of Los Angeles which was ravaged by a volcano as it is now filled with rivers and lakes of lava and ravaged buildings, with falling lava bombs and rivers of lava as the main hazard. It is also the home to a Golden Grasp safehouse hidden in the destroyed coastal city.
