The film is a sequel to Final Wars Part I and based on the animated television series of the same name and produced, written and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The film serves as the conclusion to the television series and follows the titular duo and their allies as they try to reverse Crodav Fulsa's actions in Part I while uncovering the secret history of the Zanthiran race. The film received universal acclaim for its animation, visuals, story, characters, voice acting, screenplay, direction, humor, emotional weight, musical score, action sequences, scale, and message, as well as the conclusion of the show's storylines, themes, and character arcs; most called it a perfect ending to the series. The film was also a commercial success, grossing $2 billion on a production budget of $300 million, making it the most expensive and highest-grossing animated movie of all time, surpassing Tangled and The Lion King (2019). The film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, Best Actress for Chance, Best Supporting Actor for Dae Kim, Best Original Score, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Sound, Best Film Editing and Best Cinematography and became the fifth animated film in history to win the five major Academy Awards after War of the Toons (2030), Dell and Gary: Final Wars Part I (2033), The Last Celestial: Universe (2034), and The Small Giant (2035) and winning the most awards at the 109th Academy Awards.
