Dakota and Zoey is an upcoming Canadian-American animated television series created by Tom McGillis and Jennifer Pertsch, and is a co-production of Nelvana Limited, Fresh TV and Warner Bros. Animation.
The series is a spin-off of the Total Drama series, and is set to premiere in 2020 in Detour in Canada, and Adult Swim in the United States. This is the first Total Drama spin-off to air on Adult Swim, instead of Cartoon Network. The series is a parody of old 1990s and 2000s Nickelodeon teen sitcoms. The series is also described at Adult Swim's answer to MTV's Daria meets Cartoon Network's Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi.
Christy Karacas, who is better known as the creator of Ballmastrz: 9009, will be involved with the show's production, along with Thurop Van Orman, creator of the Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, and J. G. Quintel, creator of Regular Show, who will also serve as the possible new voice actor for Mike (if Cory Doran refuses to reprise his role).
Unlike any other Canadian cartoon today, especially Total Drama, the animation will be done by Saerom Animation, known for the Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, and Regular Show, making it the first Canadian animated television series to be produced using traditional animation in a long time.
