Red Lantern is a comic published as a part of DC Rebuild, following a grittier and more aggressive Guy Gardner having quit the Green Lantern Corps and become a Red Lantern after a personal loss, as he battles against enemies of the Lanterns' past although he makes it his mission to redefine what it means to be a Red Lantern.

- Guy Gardner/Red Lantern - a former Green Lantern who, driven by the loss of a close of a close friend, ditched his Green Lantern ring and became a Red Lantern and became a much more aggressive yet still non-lethal towards other Lanterns' enemies. However, unlike other Red Lanterns, Guy makes it his goal to turn the Red Lanterns into something more peaceful and justice tied, wanting to use his inherent kindness to reform the Red Lanterns.

- Atrocitus - the leader of the Red Lantern Corps who has been motivated by rage for all of his life as he begins to learn that there may be other paths for rage and anger thanks to Guy, reluctantly allowing Guy to attempt to reform the Red Lantern Corps although he can sometimes let his anger and hatred take full control of him.
- Dex-Starr - Atrocitus's aggressive yet well-meaning pet cat and a Red Lantern who lost his human owner to an unknown criminal, as he is loyal to his master, and is helping him lead the Corps, as he is also often tasked with keeping Gardner in check, but believing he has what it takes to make good progress as a Red Lantern.
- Bleez - a beautiful yet aggressive former Princess turned Red Lantern who happens to be Guy's biggest critic when it comes to his belief that Red Lanterns can be more than just their rage but she reluctantly becomes an ally to him, aiding him when things may get too dangerous for one Red Lantern to handle on their own.
Antagonists[]
- Amon Sur - the vengeful and aggressive son of Abin Sur who resents both the Green Lantern Corps for having chosen a human over him as his father's successor, and the Red Lantern Corps after their leader Atrocitus killed Abin, as Amon has taken a staff powered by Yellow Lantern energy, and seeks revenge on the Red Lanterns, becoming an enemy for Gardner, who he believes shouldn't be trying to "reform the Red Lanterns."
- Ryan Presley/Prime Manhunter - a former football star and Guy's old rival who, after a freak accident involving the Red Lantern Guy killed and a Manhunter sent after them, ended up mutating into a human/Manhunter hybrid cyborg which the powers of a Manhunter. Driven insane, and blaming Guy for his condition, Presley now makes it his mission to make Guy's life miserable, holding onto an ages long grudge.
Issues[]
- No More Mr. Nice Guy - Driven by the loss of a close friend, Guy Gardner ditches his Green Lantern ring after accidentally killing a Red Lantern, and takes the Red Lantern ring, soon making it his goal to attempt to change the Red Lanterns into something more than just blind rage. This is soon tested when he has to fight Amon Sur, who has taken on a staff of Yellow Lantern ring power, and seeks to kill both Green and Red Lanterns.
- Heartless Machine - Guy settles to operate as a Red Lantern with Atrocitus's loyal pet and second-in-command Dex-Starr watching his good progress. Guy's abilities are soon tested when a figure of his past, Ryan Presley returns as a Manhunter/human hybrid. Blaming Gardner and the Red Lanterns for his condition, he engages him and Dex-Starr in a battle which threatens innocent civilians, with Guy having to convince Dex-Starr to help him protect innocents.
