Detective Comics is a comic book series published as a part of DC Finest following Batman working together with other members of the Batfamily to deal with several threats, with the series built around exploring the Batfamily in episodic storylines with changing tones, with some stories being dark while others are lighthearted.

Characters[]

Main/Batfamily[]

  • Bruce Wayne/Batman - the CEO of Wayne Enterprises who has been defending Gotham from threats for around a decade now as he had amassed a massive Batfamily and often works with them to defend Gotham from a plethora of threats and menaces, having a plethora of gadgets and tools in order to battle threats of many shapes.
  • Barbara Gordon/Oracle - the disabled head of intelligence of Batman after the death of Alfred as she resides in the Clocktower and aides the Batfamily through giving information and hacking into technology for the field agents of the Batfamily, being fully comfortable with her new role as the eye in the sky for the protectors of Gotham.
  • Duke Thomas/Signal - a brave and daring teenager who is capable of controlling light itself as he has been working with the Batman for around a year and a half now, with his brave and danger rushing personality sometimes being a good contrast to Batman's darker and more brooding nature, sometimes fighting in broad daylight.
  • Jason Todd/Red Hood - a former Robin of Batman's who died five years ago and got resurrected three years ago as he serves as a violent vigilante, usually attempting to hunt criminals to give them "better justice" being a reluctant member of the Batfamily and sometimes proves himself as a great hero but can also clash with other heroes.

Supporting[]

  • Mayor James "Jim" Gordon - Barbara's no-nonsense yet caring and good-willed father, and the former head of Gotham City's Police Department who is currently the city's mayor, as he has been a reliable ally for Batman, and continues serving his purpose while trusting him to keep the city safe. He has a conflicted relationship with Barbara thanks to him recently learning that she is the Oracle.
  • Commissioner Renee Montoya - a no-nonsense yet good-willed and loyal officer and detective for Gotham's Police Department who became commissioner after Gordon retired and was elected mayor. Like Gordon, Renee is also a trustworthy ally for Batman and the Batfamily in the fight against crime, although she also wants to reform the police system from the inside out as well.

Antagonists[]

  • Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin - a dwarfish yet deranged and vicious mob boss who themes himself after a penguin by looks and behavior, while also wielding a weaponized umbrella, and being assisted by robotic penguins, waitresses and other threats, as he has been one of Batman's oldest and most enduring foes.
  • Jervis Tetch/Mad Hatter - a brilliant yet insane neuroscientist who embraced a delusion that he was the incarnation of a character in the fairy tale Alice in Wonderland, using his hypnotic skills for mesmerism, as he has committed many crimes, often themed around the book that inspired him and his love of hats and headgear, going so far as to plant his hats with mind control chips to amplify his hypnosis skills, having recently reformed the Wonderland Gang with new members.
    • Rosalie Riddick/Queen-O-Hearts - an irritable and short-tempered young woman who was recruited by Mad Hatter to join his new Wonderland Gang as she wields a high-tech staff that allows her to generate electricity, being madly loyal to the Mad Hatter and is willing to do anything to make sure that his plans succeed.
  • Aaron Helzinger/Amygdala - an insane and muscular inmate at Arkham Asylum who thanks to the removal of his amygdala, was rendered violent and incapable of controlling his emotions, usually being manipulated by other villains and mob bosses into working for them, with his strength making him a dangerous threat.
  • The Rainbow Creature - a giant and rampaging monster made out a strange energy as it can either create fires, create freezing cold blizzards, trap people in a strange 2D paper-like state or turn people or anything into mist as it is a mindless and dangerous monster out for chaos and destruction, being a bizarre threat to the Batman.

Issues[]

  1. We're All Mad Here - A new version of the Wonderland Gang is formed by the Mad Hatter as they assault the Mayor's Office in Gotham with intents on turning Gotham into a new Wonderland one by one as Batman has to work with Oracle and the Signal in order to stop the Wonderland Gang before they succeed in their schemes.
  2. Grudge Match - Batman and the Red Hood get both kidnapped into a fighting arena hosted by the Penguin, with the two having to reluctantly work together to escape from the Iceberg Lounge, while having to face many crooks working for the Penguin's arena, including its prized champion, the hulking and mad Amygdala.
  3. Brightest Colors - Gotham is being attacked by a giant monster made out of a plethora of colorful colors with different colors known as the Rainbow Creature, resulting in Batman having to work with Robin and Batgirl to figure out a weakness to this Rainbow Creature and to stop its destructive rampage through Gotham City.
