Comcast Toei, Inc. (コムキャスト東映 Komu Kyasuto Tōei?) (CT) is an American-Japanese multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate headquartered in Tokyo. It was formed of Comcast and merger with Toei Company on September 18, 2026.

The company's properties are divided into ten business units, consisting of the flagship film and television studios, entertainment holding company DreamWorks Animation, Illumination, Focus Features, Working Title Films and Amblin Partners, U.S. Networks Group, NBC News (which includes CNBC, NBC Sports (including UEFA Super Cup), Global Streaming & Interactive Entertainment (which includes the Peacock and VWorks streaming services).

History[]

Formation and beginning of operations (2025-2026)[]

On December 31, 2025, Bloomberg News reported that Comcast was considering an offer to divest equity interest in their media subsidiary Comcast, and have it merge with Toei Company to form a new publicly traded company. NBC and Toei officially confirmed the agreement the next day; the merger would be structured as a Reverse Morris Trust, with NBC shareholders holding a 71% interest in the new company's stock and appointing seven board members, and Toei shareholders holding a 29% interest and appointing six board members. NBC would receive US$43 billion in cash and debt from the divestment. The merger was expected to be completed in mid-2030.

The new company would be led by Toei's current CEO, Fumio Yoshimura in the new company was uncertain. Rechtman stated that the two companies would spend a combined US$20 billion annually on content (outpacing even Netflix). The company will aim to expand their streaming services, which includes Peacock, to reach 400 million global subscribers. It was stated that the company would aim to achieve $3 billion in cost savings via synergies within two years.

The merger was officially completed on September 18, 2026, causing DreamWorks Animation to scrap Cocomelon: the Movie as a tax write-off, permanently ban AI from animation and anime and Peacock to remove Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate and Megamind Rules! when the show is cancelled after one season.

CT delivered its second-quarter earnings report on August 4, 2027. Ahead of the report, the company performed multiple cuts to Peacock's original films and series that has lowest ratings throughout July and early-August to make both animated and anime films, series and shorts with both English and Japanese languages.
