Coffey is a franchise created and owned by Warner Bros. Entertainment which was first made in 2021. It features Jodie Whittaker as Mimi, Khary Payton as John Coffey Steven Bauer as Eduard Delacroix, Daniel Radcliffe as Klaus, Priah Ferguson as Melinda, Alexander Skarsgård as Victor, John Travolta as Paul, and Tom Hanks as Neil.
Due to the first film becoming a critical and commercial success, so Warner Bros decided to contact Khary Payton. to make a franchise, and he agreed. So the franchise has an upcoming TV show. David Cronenberg (the director of the first film) have announced two other films for the franchise. One being a sequel which will be named, Coffey 2: Massacre in Las Vegas, and the other being a spin-off prequel which will be named, Delacroix. They have also announced another spin-off prequel based on Neil, it is titled, Neil Vs. John Coffey. In addition, a third film was already in development, but due to the second film becoming a box-office bomb, it was cancelled.

Coffey was executed in 1935, but in 1985, in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Mimi, Klaus, Melinda, and Victor researching urban legends, The University of New Orleans semiotics graduate student Mimi Harrington learns of the John Coffey, a spirit who kills anyone who says his name five times in front of a mirror. She is inspired to take on the project after learning about a recent murder, and she soon learns of two dozen more attributed to the John Coffey. Skeptical, Mimi and her friend Klaus Hader repeat the John Coffey's name to Mimi's bathroom mirror, but nothing happens.

The film was banned in Egypt, because due to violence. Bans in Egypt, India, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc were eventually lifted after the nations' censorship boards gave the film their highest rating.
