Code Warriors is an upcoming American animated streaming television series produced by OTV Studio, Warner Bros. Animation, and Wonderstorm. It is a spin off of the The Matrix franchise loosely based on the French animated series Code Lyoko by Thomas Romain and Tania Palumbo, like that series it will use 2D animation for real world scenes and CGI for virtual world scenes.

Plot[]

In this American version of Code Lyoko Calvin St. Shanford, a high school prodigy and three other students Yumi Ishiyama-Owyang, Otis Géczy and Kofoworola Olayiwola battle a violent A.I. in a virtual reality called the "Cyverse" with help from Aelita, an artificially intelligent girl and Calvin's grandfather Elmore St. Shanford, CEO/Chairman of ShanTec while at the same time trying maintaining their grade-point average at the fictional Column High School.

Voice Cast & Characters[]

  • Sean Giambrone - Calvin St. Shanford, A mature 15 year old age super genius and prodigy and is an employee at his grandfather's tech company ShanTec. He is the American counterpart of Jeremy Belpois.
  • Michelle Ruff - Aelita , an artificially intelligent girl who lives in the Cyverse, her age and last name is currently unknown. She is one out of the three characters from "Code Lyoko" to appear in this series.
  • Todd Haberkorn - Otis "Oddball" Géczy, The 14 year old class clown, jokester and class rep. He is American-Candian counterpart of Odd Della Robbia and like that character he has a dog named Kiwi.
  • Travis Wolfe Jr. - Kofoworola "Kofo" Olayiwola, A 14 year old Nigerian boy who is a more reserved member and practices Dembe, a martial art practiced by the Hausa people of West Africa. He is a Nigerian counterpart of Ulrich Stern.
  • Stephanie Sheh - Yumi Ishiyama-Owyang, The 15 year old fairly reserved of the group who is of half Japanese, half Chinese descent she's a practitioner of Aikido and Fanzi. She is the second character from Code Lyoko to appear, but only with a hyphened name.
    • Sheh will also voice Elizabeth "Lizzi" Delmar, the principal's beautiful, yet mean, spoiled, conceited, daughter. She based on her counterpart from the 2003 series.
  • Bruce Boxleitner - Elmore St. Shanford, Calvin's cane wielding grandfather, employer, he is also the CEO/Chairman of ShanTec.
  • Barry Shabaka Henley - Doctor Anslo Zuma, a professional psychiatrist and Kofo's uncle.
  • Frank Welker - Principle Christian Delmar, The high school's restrict, stubborn and incredibly ignorant principle and Lizzy's father. He is the American counterpart of Jean-Pierre Delmas.
    • Welker will also voice Kiwi, Otis' pet miniature bull terrier/chihuahua mix dog. He is the third out of the three characters to appear on this series.
  • Diedrich Bader - Jim "Jimbo" Jenkins, The high school's slighty overweight physical education teacher and chief disciplinarian. He is the American counterpart of Jim Morales.
  • X.A.N.A - An evil A.I. created by french computer genius Jérémy Belpois in 1969. X.A.N.A is the fourth character from "Code Lyoko" to appear in this series.

Production[]

Wonderstorm and WB Animation recieved an order for a sci fi series and began development of an American version of Code Lyoko with Romain and Palumbo will be consulting producers, like that series will be TV-Y7 and take a coming of age approach, but the only characters from that series will be X.A.N.A, Aelita, Yumi and Kiwi and the features will Calvin St. Shanford, Otis "Oddball" Géczy, Kofoworola "Kofo" Olayiwola, and Yumi Ishiyama-Owyang (a half Japanese, a half Chinese version of Yumi) four 14 and 15 year olds fighting an A.I. program that was created by a deceased French computer genius Jérémy Belpois with help from Calvin's grandfather Elmore St. Shanford and an artificially intelligent girl in the virtual world "Cyverse" (formally "Lyoko").

Casting[]

Unlike the French series this series will have different voice actors some of which will voice multiple characters recording will be held at Salami Studios with Sean Giambrone as Calvin, Michelle Ruff as Aelita, Todd Haberkorn as Otis, Travis Wolfe Jr. as Kofo, Stephanie Sheh as Yumi and, Bruce Boxleitner as Calvin's grandfather Elmore. Salami hired Sam Riegel as voice director.

Music[]

Electronic band Night Club were hired by Wonderstorm to score the series Debra Reynolds and Naom Kaniel's "A World Without Danger" will be used in the series, followed by a new rendition by Night Club for the opening credits with Kaniel as consultant.

2D animation[]

The real world part of the series will shown in a 2D anime-like format which will provided from Studio Mir in Seoul, South Korea.

CGI animation[]

Virtual reality part of the series will shown in a CGI format which will provided from Assemblage Animation in Mumbai, India.

Design[]

The real world will be featured in an anime-like look sort of Avatar and Korra and while most designs will be different from the french series. While some of the virtual reality designs will used from Code Lyoko, the rest will be different with Tron-like alterations and monster designs will be altered as well. 2d character designs will be handled by Jin Sun Kim and Il Kwang Kim, while Cgi character designs will be handled by Felipe Smith, Steve Jones and Dou Hong.

Homage to Code Lyoko[]

  • The mark of X.A.N.A from Code Lyoko will be used.
  • The supercomputer will be featured in the series as well.
  • Some of the characters from the french series will appear.
  • The skateboarding down the tunnel scene will be used in some episodes.
  • Kadic Academy will be referenced.
  • Yumi will be seen in her black clothing attire.
  • Some episodes will be remakes of certain Code Lyoko episodes.
  • Odd's signature purple spot will be used.
