Production[]

  • The project started as a Live-Action feature when Shires is established in 1913 and is originally going to he the first Shires film, but the project was cancelled when the studio is disestablished in 1917.
  • Shires revived the project as an animated feature in 1930 to make Charlotterella one of the first animated features of America, but was cancelled again in 1934 when Walt Disney announced production on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
  • The project was revived again after World War II in 1945 and finally the film was finished by 1949.

Release[]

  • In 1950 it was released, but it has been successful that it was followed by Six re-releases in 1957, 1962, 1970, 1975, 1984, 1990.
