Children under 17 are only allowed to see R-rated movies if they are accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. However, different theaters have different policies for R-rated movies. Some theaters may check IDs of those who look under 17, only allow parents to purchase tickets and accompany those under 17, and require an adult guardian to purchase tickets and accompany those under 17.
