Carmilla: The Animated Web Series is an American LGBTQ Supernatural Fiction Adult animated television series based off of Sheridan Le Fanu’s Gothic novella of the same name, being created by PinkPlush100. It is produced by Made In PinkPlush100.
Synopsis[]
17-year-old British teenager Laura Glitterstone moves in to an European castle along with her widower father, who’s a Christian along with her family, who finds LGBTQ a sin…except for her.
When she was a 6-years-old, Laura always ends up dreaming about a very beautiful girl her age, but a month taller than her. She had wavy black hair, indigo eyes, and pale skin, who claims to have given her a red kiss mark towards her cheek, but no mark was found according to Laura.
Later, one sunset evening, she starts to feel lonely and longs for a companion, after her childhood friend “Bertha Rheinfeldt” moved away under mysterious circumstances. That’s when she heard a carriage arriving outside of the door, and when she opened it, she finds the same girl who appeared in her dreams, but is now 17-years-old just like her.
As they started to click instantly, they don’t know about a romance they’ll soon have that’ll change their lives forever…

- Laura Glitterstone - A 17-year-old British pleasant, social and caring teenager who loves in to an European castle with her widower father. Ever since she was a child, she’d always dreamed about a girl kissing her on the cheek and longes for companionship. Now that she’s a teen, she meets and befriends a vampire named Carmilla who soon develops feelings for her.
- Carmilla Karnstein - A 17-year-old Vampire who’s smitten by Laura for her personality and looks. She first saw Laura when she first arrived at her new castle, wishing to keep her company. However, some people don’t approve of their relationship. Now Carmilla vows to protect her lover and their relationship from homophobes at all costs, even if it means getting herself hurt once in a while. She also has older sisters.
Supporting Characters[]
- Bertha Rheinfeldt - A 17-year-old teenager who’s the niece of the General. She doesn’t appear in the series until the climax, when people thought she was bitten and killed by a vampire, but in reality, she actually moved due to her father being abusive towards her for being a lesbian. Although Bertha remains kind and friendly, she is greatly upset by her father’s choice and saddened that she will not fall in love with any girl at all, believing that it may be a sin.
- Laura’s Deceased Mother - The currently deceased 36-year-old mother of Laura Glitterstone who recently died in a carriage accident outside of Laura’s home. Thus, allowing her husband to take good care of her. However, it is later revealed that she and her husband both of conflicting ideas about LGBTQ themselves. The mother wishes for her daughter to find someone they love, regardless of gender, while her father wants her to stay religious to herself.
- Madame Perrodon - A fat, middle-aged, yet crazy Lesbian romantic who’s Laura’s governess who lives with Laura and her father at their schloss. She takes on a motherly role in Laura’s life, as her good nature fills the gap left by the death of Laura’s mother. She comes from Berne in Switzerland, and speaks French and limited English. She cares a great deal for Laura and is enamored of Carmilla, commenting on her exceptional beauty.
- Doctor Hesselius - A doctor who acts as a therapist to Laura whenever she had problems dealing with her father’s homophobic behavior. He even gives Laura love advice on what to do with Carmilla.
Minor Characters[]
- Mademoiselle De Lafontaine - Laura’s finishing governess who also lives with them. She speaks French and English, and she is in charge of Laura’s education. Like Madame Perrodon, she is also taken with Carmilla’s exceptional beauty.
- Doctor Spielsberg - A doctor who examines Laura and warns her father of his homophobia.
- Son of the picture cleaner - A man who delivers the portrait of Mircalla Karnstein. He presents the portraits to Laura, her father, and Carmilla, the third one being related to her as they’re both sisters.
- Woodman - An old man who takes care of the lands surrounding the old Karnstein mansion. He informs them about the vampires that had formed romance with other people in the villages before a homophobic politcal protest has started by a Moravian nobleman. He later returns to help them unearth Carmilla’s tomb.
- First Physician - The first doctor who examines Bertha. He laughs at the suggestion of supernatural causes for her love for girls, thinking that she’s being lured by the devil.
- Physician from Gratz - A physician who examines Bertha and tells the General she has been showing symptoms of loneliness. Although the General is skeptical of this supposed rumor, so he decides to listen to the physician out of a desperate desire to separate his niece from anyone who tries to come near her.
Villains[]
- Laura’s Widowed Father - A 39-year-old man who’s Laura’s father. While he starts off kind and doting towards her daughter at first, he slowly gets overprotective and homophobic at her when he finds out about her relationship with Carmilla. Due to this, he’s a Christian who views LGBTQ as a “sin” to all and is supposed to represent the devil’s desires, thinking that his daughter might be cursed.
- General Spielsdorf - The 48-year-old owner of a castle twenty miles to the west of Laura’s father’s castle. Prior to the story, Laura’s father receives a letter from him that his niece, Bertha Rheinfeldt, has supposedly died of a disease, but doesn’t know that she’s still alive. So he blames her death on a “monster” who had come into his home and deceived him, and vowed to spend his days hunting the beast, not knowing that the beast is Carmilla herself.
- Baron Vordenburg - A 36-year-old expert vampire hunter who has vanquished vampires from all over the world. He helps Laura’s father and General Spielsdorf locate Carmilla and defeat the vampire, thus threatening her and Laura’s relationship together. Like Laura’s father, he’s also shown to be homophobic.
- Priest - An obese priest with a pointed black beard who sells Carmilla and Laura charms to ward off vampires, as well as evil dreams and spirits. He is dressed in black and scarlet and he carries a wide variety of objects that Laura’s father would often laugh at. He is accompanied by a dog. He also offers to blunt Carmilla’s sharp teeth, which greatly offends her and threatens their relationship. He even replaces the “Hunchback” from the OG story to avoid offending some audiences.
- Doctor Anderson - An old man of around sixty with a shaved pale face, whom Laura’s father calls to ask about the peasant girls in the nearby villages about their increasing lesbian vows. They speak for a while in private, and Laura’s father laughs at his suggestions. Although Laura is unaware at the time of what they were discussing, she comes to realize they were likely talking about the existence of homophobia.
- Moravian Nobleman - A nobleman who was originally the husband of Countess Mircalla before breaking up with her upon discovering that she’s a vampire. Upon this discovery, he grew to be a vampire-loathing vampire hunter who wishes to end their existence. He’s also revealed to be the ancestor of Baron Vordenburg.
