Plot[]

On November 7, 1958, during a hunting trip with his father in Longview, Texas, 13-year-old Joey Daniels encounters a wild wolf. The wolf appears to charge at him, and Joey tries to calm it down. Just as the wolf is jumping on him, Joey's father, Red, shoots it in the face with a sawed-off shotgun belonging to his late brother.

In the early 1960s, Joey is a jack-of-all-trades expressing many talents. He was a very talented student at Longview High School, from which he had graduated in 1963, having participated in nearly all the extracurricular activities, including the football team, baseball team, the school's drama club, art clubs, among others. Joey played one season of both professional baseball and football from 1963 to 1964 and has also taken up to acting in some Hollywood films.
