Gameplay[]
The game plays similarly to the first game but with the big island replaced with a city. The primary difference is instead of feeding Grumpuses Bugsnax, you capture and contain them in the NGPC HQ, which is a part of Town Center which is the hub world. The game introduces Clone Snax which are safe to eat clones of any Snak you capture, being used to fool the Bugsnax into thinking that they are being eaten. The side mission boss fights of the Legendary Bugsnax (now called Neo Legendary) return as well as new boss types in the story called Hybrid Bugsnax, which are hybrids of two or more Bugsnax made by the Snakolytes. All of the old gameplay altering attributes: aggressive, evasive, burrowing, breakable, flying, sticky, frosty and spicy return as some new attributes are introduced as well, including:
- Loving - Bugsnax that notice you and try to run to you in order to be eaten. Eating too many Loving Bugsnax means you'd gain a game over.
- Swarm - multiple Bugsnax that stick together in one place, either making them unable to be caught in the Snak Trap until being split up or allowing you to catch multiple of them.
In addition, the non-gameplay altering attributes of: fruity, green, meaty, red and sweet return as well, as similar to the new gameplay altering attributes, some non gameplay altering attributes are introduced as well, including:
- Vegan - Bugsnax that have no trace of meat or gluten.
- Blue - Bugsnax that are the color blue or are primarily the color blue.
Gadgets[]
- Snakscope - a camera-like device that can be used to scan anything, from Bugsnak to Grumpus.
- Snak Trap - traps designed to capture Bugsnax, being quite easy to be used to catch Bugsnax.
- Snaknap - an anesthetic dart which is useful to tranquilize Bugsnax for a short period of time, although they are limited in arrow and don't work on all types of Bugsnax.
Sauces[]
- Ketchup - a red sauce that quite a few bugs either absolutely adore or absolutely despise.
- Chocolate Sauce - a delicious chocolate sauce that can attract a few different types of Bugsnax.
- Ranch Dressing - a sauce which is somewhat weird tasting but quite a few Bugsnax enjoy.
- Hot Sauce - a spicy sauce that can attract some Bugsnax, mainly those themed around spicy foods.
- Honey - a sticky yet sweet sauce that a few Bugsnax enjoy and like slurping up.
