Bremen: From Farm To Fame is a 1988 Canadian adult animated mockumentary musical fantasy film directed by Clive A. Smith and Jon Acevski. It was produced by Nelvana Limited and Toei Animation and released and distributed by Famous Players and The Samuel Goldwyn Company. A loose adaptation of the 1819 German fairy tale The Town Musicians Of Bremen published by The Brothers Grimm, the film's story, subjects and direction is made to appear as if it's a music documentary. Set in an alternate world where anthropomorphic animals age slower than humans while thriving amongst them like regular members of society, the plot follows a human filmmaker documenting the story, lives, ideas and struggles of The Bremen Musicians from the 1950s all the way up to the 1980s; Complete with interviews, photo and video archives, live performances and never before seen footage. Even though the film was Nelvana's attempt to gain back it's adult audience and return to original movie concepts after the failure of their previous 1983 movie Rock And Rule, Bremen: From Farm To Fame was released to mixed reviews and was another box office bomb. Despite it's initial reception, the film would become an animated cult classic in recent years thanks to it's animation, themes, music and mockumentary format.
