Borderlands Love and Guns is a non-canonical looter-shooter dating sim video game being set in its own continuity.

Synopsis[]

Set in an alternate Pandora where Elpis was never opened and banished from Pandora, a wandering "Vault Romancer" arrives to Pandora to potentially find love, soon encountering multiple old Vault Hunters and other heroes of Pandora and gets the chance to date multiple to help a crash landed AI known as M3T-CUT3 gather data on how romance works, all the while having to deal with the Pangolin corporation, who is searching for a Vault that would make everyone love Pangolin. The game has four DLC packs with all four introducing three more datable characters and has no connections to the main story's plot:

Gameplay[]

The game plays as a looter shooter similarly to Borderlands games yet instead of picking from four Vault Hunters, you pick from eight classes: the strength and melee focused Heartbreaker class, the elemental effects focused Alchemist class, the beast summoning focused Caller class, the mind control focused Lust Master, the stealth focused Backstabber, the pyromaniac focused Firestarter, the distraction focused Center of Attention and the cybernetic focused Cyber Fighter with each Class having two Skill Trees and two Action Skills to go with those two trees. The game has a looser story style too as the main focus is not to just push through the story but to romance NPCs, with there being missions you have to do for each romancable NPCs, usually being a chain of three to ten missions. Unlike previous games, each romance related mission does have some sort of decision you need to make which would ultimately lead to the choosable NPC either loving you, being friends with you or hating you, with the consensus being decided at the end of the mission line through which choices you make throughout the lines. However, instead of a dialogue wheel, the choices are represented by two conflicting gameplay objectives during certain love missions. If you get the love or friendship ending, you can do more side missions for the character, although they change depending on which ending. However, there is an overarching story, but it only progresses on how much progress you make romancing characters, with each "main" mission only being unlocked if you have completed a certain amount of romance quest lines. The game has a whopping fifteen romancable characters with DLC packs introducing three more.

Characters[]

Playable/Main[]

  • The Vault Romancer (voiced by Aleks Le and Damien Haas if male, Abby Trott and Marisha Ray if female and Erika Ishii and Marin Miller if non-binary) - a fully customizable Vault Hunter who comes from a boring and lackluster planet as they arrive to Pandora in order to potentially find love, finding M3T-CUT3 and gets thrust into exploring Pandora to find romances as well as to stop Pangolin from unlocking a sinister vault.
  • M3T-CUT3 (voiced by Cristina Vee) - a clumsy yet silly and lovable and curious AI who crash landed on Pandora as she finds the Vault Romancer and forms a partnership with them to help study and concoct romance related studies, although she also has a case of amnesia and doesn't remember why she is gathering these results, slowly regaining her memories while the Vault Romancer helps her. She is incapable of being romanced and serves as a platonic companion to the Romancer.

Romancable[]

All romancable characters come from previous Borderlands games.

  • Maya (voiced by Martha Harms) - a somewhat aggressive but calmer Siren who had never died in this universe as she is attempting to find a purpose for her life after willingly giving her Siren powers to her protege of Ava to try and live a normal life. She enlists the Vault Romancer to help her try many random hobbies which ends with chaos, although there is a chance for romance. She is one of two characters that the Vault Romancer can immediately pursue after beating the first mission. Her romance line is eight missions.
  • Ellie (voiced by Jamie Marchi) - a giddy and energetic hillbilly and inventor who loves inventing vehicles and seeing destruction and chaos as she learns of a huge underground race hosted by the bandits of Pandora and enlists the Vault Romancer to help her win the race and the prize achieved for the race, being potentially into the Vault Romancer. She is one of two characters that the Vault Romancer can immediately pursue after beating the first mission. Her romance line is six missions.
  • Moserah Hayussinian Yan-Lun al-Amir "Moze" Andreyevna (voiced by Marissa Lenti) - an aggressive and violence loving but truly kind and militant Vault Hunter and Crimson Raider who learns that a group of Vladof soldiers have arrived on Pandora to attempt to take back the Iron Bear and brainwash Moze into serving Vladof, with the Vault Romancer being capable of helping Moze escape from Vladof's grasp for a chance of romance. Her romance line is five missions.
  • Mordecai (voiced by Jason Liebrecht) - a depressive but sometimes cocky professional sniper and an original Crimson Raider who had learned that his latest pet, Talon, has been kidnapped by a group of Maliwan scientists as he recruits the Vault Romancer to help him try and rescue Talon, attempting to prevent him from falling under the same fate as Bloodwing, being capable of showcasing romantic feelings to the Vault Romancer. His romance line is seven missions.
  • FL4K (voiced by SungWon Cho) - a quiet and antisocial yet friendly and curious android hunter who arrived on Pandora to hunt after four rare and valuable beasts which have recently revealed themselves on Pandora as they recruit the Vault Romancer to help them hunt down these monsters, with them soon unlocking potentially romantic feelings for the Vault Romancer. Their romance line is six missions.
  • Tina (voiced by Ashly Burch) - a giddy and chaotic explosives loving young adult who is currently DMing the ultimate Bunkers and Badasses campaign with action, thrills and romance, with her romance arc being the Vault Romancer playing a session of her massive new campaign, with the potential for Tina to fall in love with them. Her romance line is the shortest being only three missions.
  • Mad Moxxi (voiced by Brina Palencia) - the calm and seductive owner of Mad Moxxi's bar who is known for constantly flirting with people as she hires the Vault Romancer to exterminate a cult of bandits that worship her, with her soon starting to gather her own feelings for the Vault Romancer depending on what actions they make. Her romance line is nine missions.
  • Lilith (voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard) - the calm but sometimes cocky and even dumb leader of the Crimson Raiders who never vanished in this universe as she learns of remnants of the Children of the Vault who intend on finding some way to resurrect the Calypsos, with her hiring the Vault Romancer to help her stop this resurrection, soon potentially falling in love with the Romancer as well. Her romance line is eight missions.
  • Vaughn (voiced by Chris Hardwick) - an idiotic and somewhat insane bandit king and ally to the Crimson Raiders who wants to attempt to rehabilitate bandit leaders into becoming less murdery and backstabby, hiring the Vault Romancer to help him in attempting to give these bandits therapy, although he starts to realize he might get feelings for the Vault Romancer.
