Bolt: The Return (stylized as BTR, also known as Bolt 2) is a 2022 American animated comedy action-adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the 62nd Disney animated feature film.

Bolt 2 premiered at CinemaCon on September 27, 2022, and was theatrically released in the United States on IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX, and Dolby Cinema on November 28, 2022, by Disney. It will also be released on Disney+ after its theatrical run. The film was released to widespread critical acclaim, with many reviewers deeming it superior to its predecessor. The film has grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2022, the second film released during the COVID-19 pandemic to gross $1 billion, and the highest-grossing film of Cruise's career. It also surpassed Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) to become the highest-grossing film distributed by Disney/Pixar.

Plot[]

In 2009, 13-year-old, assisted by the Bolt, whom he has hired to work for him.

Bolt, badly damaged in Mexico City, hides in Texas, a financially struggling inventor. While his teenage daughter Tessa and business partner Lucas Flannery encourage him to turn Bolt over to the authorities, Cade instead fixes Optimus. Still skeptical of Bolt, Lucas alerts the authorities, and James Savoy, Attinger's field commanding operative, attacks the Yeager farm, but Bolt, and Tessa's secret boyfriend, Irish rally car driver

As of March 27, 2023, Bolt: The Return has grossed $478 million in the United States and Canada, and $668 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $1,146 billion. It is the ninth highest-grossing film of 2022 and the highest-grossing animated film of 2022.

In the United States and Canada, Bolt: The Return was initially projected to gross $70–80 million from 4,391 theaters over its four-day opening weekend. After making $48.2 million on its first day (including an estimated $10.8 million from Thursday previews), the best for an animated film among the pandemic and of the Bolt franchise, estimates were raised to $129 million. It went on to debut to $107 million (and a four-day total of $123.1 million), topping the box office. Its total set the Independence Day weekend record, surpassing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen's $125.75 million in 2009.

The film opened in Australia a week before its U.S. release, debuting to $8.2 million. It added another 80 international markets in its sophomore weekend and made $87.2 million. The combined first and second offshore weekends were 67% below Bolt (2008). Four countries—Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Venezuela—had the biggest animation opening weekend of all time. The popular TikTok trend that accompanied its release was credited for Israel's record-breaking performance. As of July 3, 2022, the film's largest markets include the UK ($346.2 million), Mexico ($224.7 million), Germany ($69.3 million), Spain ($13.5 million), and Indonesia ($11.5 million).
