Bettybrant
You really don't get it, do you. You act like Peter Parker is the disguise that Spider-Man hides behind. He's not. He's Peter Parker wearing a costume. And Peter is a good, decent, caring man, and always has been.
~ Betty Brant

Elizabeth Brant is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, usually in stories featuring the superhero Spider-Man. She is the personal secretary of J. Jonah Jameson at the Daily Bugle, and served as both a supporting character and love interest for Peter Parker. She later became a reporter for the Daily Bugle and the girlfriend of Flash Thompson / Agent Venom.

Since her inception, the character has been featured in various media adaptations, such as feature films, television series and video games. In film, she was portrayed by Elizabeth Banks in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, and by Angourie Rice as a teenaged version in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

Idea Wiki appearances[]

  • Betty Brant appears in Marvel's Spider-Man: Webbed Champion, voiced by Grey DeLisle. Much of her role in the series is the same as in the canon version of the 2017 series, except until J. Jonah Jameson is arrested following Spider-Man's and Tigra's battle against Venom and Scorpion. Both she and Robbie Robertson are aware of Spider-Man's identity, but choose not to disclose it to the public due to the good he does for society, and because they "owe Jameson no satisfactions" due to how selfish and arrogant he is.
  • Intergalactic Grand Prix Betty Brant

Betty Brant as she appears in Marvel Superhero Adventures: Intergalactic Grand Prix

A teenage version of Betty Brant appears as a supporting NPC in Marvel Superhero Adventures: Intergalactic Grand Prix, voiced by Ashly Burch. This version is an amalgam of her counterparts from Earth-65 and Angourie Rice's character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; Betty is depicted as a member of Mary Jane Watson's rock band the Mary Janes, and the host of Horizon Academy's Journal Channel. She is also a supporter of Spider-Man and keeper of his identity of Peter Parker, as well as an intern at Stark Industries. One of the heroes' helpers during the titular racing contest hosted by the Grandmaster, Betty is shown interviewing the superheroes about their experience in the tournament. She and her bandmates also wear nanotechnology leotards with special capabilities; Betty's suit allows her to manipulate gravity and telepathically control her drones, which she uses for her live interviews. Interactions in the hub reveal that Betty has a "special relationship" with Felicia Hardy / Black Cat, whom Betty refers to as her "feline queen", while Felicia in turning refers to Betty as her "canary princess".
    • The same version appears in the Prelude comic book series. She is shown in "Menace and Bookworm No More" among Peter's friends who drop out of Midtown High School to enroll at Horizon Academy following the incident with Man-Wolf. In "Cat-suited Robin Hood", she is revealed to be a closeted bisexual, who is in a romantic relationship with Felicia; the two begun dating shortly after Betty learned of Felicia's secret life as Black Cat, and after they expressed sympathy to each other over their mutually poor relationship with Flash Thompson (who broke up with Betty for being "too soft towards the nerds"). In "Something Pretty to Wear", she is shown with her bandmates the Mary Janes discussing about the racers' gear before Princess Shuri suggests they sure wear something pretty for themselves, for which Betty is the one who suggests the group would look well on leotards.
