Beowulf is an American animated action-adventure-drama television miniseries, being created by TBD. It is produced by Fox Television Animation and 20th Century Fox Television and it has aired on FX from February 28th, 2020 until March 13th, 2020.

Synopsis[]

This miniseries revolves around Beowulf, the hero of the Geats, as he gets into battle with foes from Grendel to his mother to a dragon.

Characters[]

Main[]

  • Beowulf (voiced by Stephen Russell) - a warrior who came from Geatland to aid Hrothgar to defeat Grendel (and his mother later on) and later becomes a king in the second episode. He dies in the third and final episode after the dragon bit him in the neck, inserting venom into him.

Supporting[]

  • Hrothgar (voiced by Mark Hamill) - an old man who was the King of the Danes and has known Beowulf since he was only a little boy. He died between the events of the second and third episode.
  • Wealtheow (voiced by Laura Bailey) - a woman who is Hrothgar's wife.
  • Unferth (voiced by Aaron LaPlante) - a warrior who was jealous of Beowulf and once called him out for losing a swimming race with Breca. However, he later redeems and eventually gave him a sword named Hrunting to help him kill off Grendel's mother.
  • Wiglaf (voiced by Michael McKean) - a loyal warrior who helped Beowulf defeat the dragon and became a king after Beowulf's death.
  • The Slave (voiced by Stephen Root) - a slave running away from his abusive master who stole the jeweled cup and ran off with it, causing the dragon to become furious.

Antagonists[]

  • Grendel (voiced by Michael Donovan) - a monster who was descended from Cain and constantly attacks people in Heorot until Beowulf came and slayed him.
  • Grendel's Mother (voiced by Jean Gilpin) - another monster who is revealed to be Grendel's mother and attacked Heorot as revenge for killing her son.
  • The Dragon (vocal effects by Fred Tatasciore) - a dragon who guarded treasures until a slave stole a jeweled teacup, causing the dragon to attack various villages in rage. It ended up killing Beowulf while dying with its venomous bite.
