Batman is a HBOMax-exclusive miniseries and a continuation of the DC Extended Universe. The series utilizes a similar formula to BBC's TV series Sherlock, with three episodes per season and each episode being 90 minutes long.

Plot[]

Season 1[]

The first season has Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) trapping Batman in Arkham Asylum with the mercenary Deathstroke as part of an initiative to eliminate the Justice League one by one.

The Joker[]

The series opens with a group of 14 men meeting at a parking lot. The Penguin (Patton Oswalt) glances down at his watch. A large red truck pulls up, the Joker (Jared Leto) walks out. The camera pans up, revealing Batman standing on a beam above the meeting area, the camera cuts back down to the meeting, Batman throws a smoke pellet down and performs a three-point landing. A large portion of thugs flee in their cars, leaving only 6 thugs. Batman takes down the group, the Penguin attempts to flee on foot but his feet are tied up with a pair of bolas. The Joker hops into his van and drives away. Batman presses a button and summons the Batmobile to the street below, he leaps through the window and jumps into the Batmobile in slow motion, a chase scene ensues, it goes on for a little while until Batman fires a small circular object beneath the van, it attaches to the bottom of the van and shoots out a large flame, sending it flying. Batman pulls Joker out of the van and hands him to Commissioner Gordon, Batman then pulls his infamous disappearing act. Batman returns to the Batcave and admires Robin's suit, which is covered in Joker graffiti. He talks to Alfred about the possibility of killing off the Joker, Alfred withdraws from the conversation, unsure. The following night, Batman sneaks in to Arkham to see the Joker. Batman and the Joker play poker while conversing, Batman says

"Hello. I came to talk. I've been thinking lately. About you and me. About what's going to happen to us, in the end. We're going to kill each other, aren't we? Perhaps you'll kill me. Perhaps I'll kill you. Perhaps sooner. Perhaps later. I just wanted to know that I'd made a genuine attempt to talk things over and avert that outcome. Just once. Are you listening to me? It's life and death that I'm discussing here. Maybe my death... maybe yours. I don't fully understand why ours should be such a fatal relationship, but I don't want your murder on my... hands..."

Joker responds by taunting Batman over letting Jason die. Batman snaps and lunges at Joker, he holds Joker's neck against the wall. Suddenly, the lights go out, when they turn back on, Joker has disappeared and the cell door is open, a laugh echoes through the hallways.
