Axel Stone is one of the SEGA DLC Newcomers for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and as well as one of the first SEGA Smashers other than Sonic to come from SEGA itself as opposed to Ren Amamiya/Joker and Bayonetta (though Bayonetta's games are later distributed and published by Nintendo) in which they came from properties that SEGA co-owns.
Moveset[]
References for this one at taken from this, this and this.
Axel is a close-ranged heavy-weight fighter, who is able to walk/dash at fall speeds, has extremely short jumps and shares the worst air acceleration speed with Solid Snake, Simon and Richter Belmont. He also has strong attacks, throws (which become a bit stronger by vaulting over his opponent with his up throw) and a fast pummel.
Using Special Moves will slowly rise up Axel's damage. However, at the start of each stock, Axel grants a meter which gives him one special move without recoil damage with a 5-second cooldown between them.
Basic Moves[]
- Neutral Combo - Axel punches the opponent twice with his left hand and then performs a third one with his right hand.
- Side Tilt - Axel kicks the opponent forward with his leg and then performs a slightly high kick with a same foot.
- Up Tilt - Axel performs a light uppercut with his right hand.
- Down Tilt - Axel kicks forward with his right leg while crouching.
- Dash Attack: Home Run - Axel pulls out a baseball bat and swings it while running forward. Based on his Star Skill in SEGA Heroes.
Smash Moves[]
- Side Smash - Axel pulls out a lead/metal pipe, lifts it above his head and then vertically swings it forward in-front of him.
- Up Smash - Axel crouches down and then performs a powerful uppercut with his fist compared to his Up Tilt.
- Down Smash - Axel performs a sweeping kick with his leg like Terry's, tripping an opponent when directly hit.
Aerial Moves[]
- Neutral Air - Axel does a rising knee attack with his right leg. Based on one of his aerial attacks in the first Streets of Rage game.
- Forward Air - Axel kicks outwards with his left leg.
- Back Air - Axel turns around and punches backwards. Based on a backwards ground attack in the original games.
- Up Air - Axel performs a high kick with his right leg.
- Down Air - Axel performs a knee press with both of his legs. Has a meteor-smash effect.
Grab/Throw Moves[]
- Grab - Axel grabs the opponent by their head with both hands.
- Pummel - Axel knees the opponent with his leg.
- Forward Throw - Axel headbutts the opponent forward.
- Back Throw - Axel performs a suplex by dropping his back onto the ground and throwing an opponent backwards.
- Up Throw - Axel vaults over the opponent and goes behind them. It isn't an attack, but makes Axel's throws a bit stronger. Opponents can escape this by mashing the button if they aren't damaged enough.
- Down Throw - Axel jumps up and then slams the opponent onto the ground, burying them.
Special Moves[]
- Neutral Special: Dragon Smash - Axel unleashes a flurry of punches, finishing with an uppercut. By holding the button, he will charge up before releasing an attack. Deals 2.1% recoil damage.
- Side Special: Grand Upper - Axel dashes forward and uppercuts an opponent into the air. Has less distance and sends opponents at a far diagonal angle compared to Captain Falcon's Raptor Boost. Deals 1.2% recoil damage.
- Up Special: Grand Hook - Axel performs a Dragon Wing (as described below) and immediately follows it up with an jumping uppercut similar to Ryu and Ken's Shoryuken. Deals 1.7% recoil damage.
- Down Special: Dragon Wing/Jump Special - Axel swings his fist in a fast circular motion and then punches straight-forward with it being encased in flames. In the air, Axel will roll into opponents powerfully and finishes off with Dragon Wing like in Streets of Rage 4. Deals 1.6% recoil damage.
- Final Smash: Dragon Burst/Police Backup - Axel performs his Star Move from Streets of Rage 4, similar to Ken's Shinryuken. If hit, opponents are dragged into a cutscene where Axel radios in for backup. A police car arrives and a cop fires his/her bazooka/rocket launcher at all of the opponents targeted, who are trapped in a ring of flames followed by an explosion which sends them flying far away (inspired by the first Streets of Rage game).

The first stage from the very first Streets of Rage game (and by extension, while incorporating elements from the succeeding three games after the first game of the franchise as a whole) serves as his DLC Stage. The stage would be a flat stage like some of them that are featured within the Base Game and feature a lot of appearances from Everyone else in the franchise other than Axel himself.
