Plot[]
The series is about the teenage music sensations Aurora Borealis (Aurora Pekkanen, Marja-Liisa Lahti, Johanna Mustonen and Helena Laukkanen) from Finland and their friends (like Tiina Busters and Cassie MacScott). They have a rival group from Russia called the Soviet Villains (Younghee Byeol, Anna Dimitry, Olga Yanovich and Nadia Ivanov) who want to prove themselves better than Aurora and make the whole of Europe communist. Aurora Borealis is a series about two bands, thus there are songs in every episode. Sometimes the songs are repeated in later episodes.
Spin-offs[]
Aurora Borealis in Another Dimension is a spin-off that features Aurora Borealis, their friends and the Soviets in another dimension, Aurora Borealis coming from the planet Suomis 2. Trouble in Europe is a series where Aurora Borealis and company need to save various European countries from dangerous situations, and sometimes just solving basic everday problems. Trip to Britain is a popular movie series focusing on Aurora's visit to London, England.
Reception[]
The show gained generally positive reviews from critics but has gotten some controversy surrounding the fact that the Soviets want to send people to gulag and practically worship Stalin and Lenin and are pretty mean to Finnish people. The song "Torture of the Irish" was changed to what translates as "Soviet Monster" in the Irish Gaelic dub.
