Changes: Arlene

I am currently changing the plot of this article. All of the other articles related will be on hiatus until then.

Arlene is a 1999 traditional animated film based on the best-selling graphic novel by Robert Nadal. The film was Nickelodeon's first Non-Nicktoon animated theatrical movie and the second animated theatrical movie they've released after The Rugrats Movie. The film starred Brittany Murphy as the title character and is her first role in an animated movie.

Plot

Prologue

From the distant cosmos on a planet far far away from here, life began to crumble into uninhabitable levels. Millions of the planet's population fled the planet in search for a new one. However, 6 of the planet's inhabitants went in search of locations to defend. The 6 creatures called themselves members of the Galactic Comets. Each member represents a different form of talent including Intelligence, Agility, Magic, Bravery, Leadership, and Assistance. As such, they eventually split up after their home planet was wiped out and 3 of them went to another planet with life and swore to make sure they’d protect it. The closest planet they could find was Earth of course and they've kept the planet from extinction by disintegrating asteroids and preventing any sort of friction from occurring down there, at least while staying away from any proximity to the atmosphere layers. Knowing mystic beings exist would cause mass mayhem and planet wide panic. But they've still managed to achieve their goals for over 7 years, until...well...you'll have to listen to the rest of the story to find out

We take a look at these 3, Tiberius, Thomas, and Tabitha, in their starship, relaxing with their cups of coffee and wondering what life on Earth is thinking about with there being no signs of asteroids or any other planet wiping objects. All that makes Tom remind them of is what happened to their home planet. Tiberius reminds him that it's best to leave the past behind him. Just to clarify, it wasn't their fault. Their back story has nothing to do with them causing genocide. The Galactic Comets were meant to defend, not annihilate. With these three, they've went to defend Earth in their honor for 7 years. But when they've reached their 7th year, something unexpected and inevitable happened.

Tawaho Island

On an island named Tawaho, lived a city, under the name of DiamondVille, around the mountains. Just outside of the town, in the meadows were farm animals living in peace and prosperity. But, one night, something or someone came in to crash the party. It looked like, a colossal octopus monster. It roared down towards the farms animals, ready to eat them. Cows, chickens, pigs, sheep, horses, and goats were being slaughtered and eaten by the monster. Back at the starship, the emergency alarms went off and Tiberius was startled and ran to the computer to take a look at what's going on. It wouldn't take long for the citizens of DiamondVille to overhear the carnage in the meadows. Those who got up, like the mayor, Richard Weber, and his youngest son, Hoover, headed to the meadows to see what was going on, and they saw the monster spewing out the bones of the farm animals towards the citizens. Luckily, he didn't notice them and he left the area and fled to a castle in which no one has entered. Everyone seeing this, they needed to chase it down and stop it. But they couldn't do that because they're too weak to fight such monster. Weber informed the town to return to their homes and we'll find answers to what's going on later. However, there was one person who didn't decide to go back. A 7-year-old girl named Tiffany. She's an orphan who's mother died when she was 2 years old. It was believed that her mom vanished in the castle never to be seen again. But she wonders if maybe answers to everything that's happened and happening could be in there. She went over to the castle as quietly and as defensive as possible. Let's hope she'll be fine.

When Tiberius, Tom, and Tabitha overseen the catastrophe, they were devastated and traumatized. Tiberius questioned where it came from. He turns to Tom who is responsible for looking for any incoming threats. Tom said his instincts detected no outside threats and since he's the member of prediction, he was telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. The three needed to act fast. Tiberius decided the best option is to do what they've done in the past, create a creature to go after it. Tiberius pulls out a blueprint of his life's work and lays it down on the testing table. The problem is they don't have the ingredients to make it. What's worse is that it's only found on a life-filled planet like Earth. It's possible they might not make it alive, but they had to try. The three draw straws with Tiberius being the loser. Getting ready to go down there, he tells Tom and Tabitha to finish his plan if he doesn't make it. They promise him they'll make sure they finish his plan if he's out of the picture. They hug him goodbye and he heads down there and disguises himself among the humans down there.

We enter the castle where Tiffany is hiding under the shadows of the castle, bumping into hybrid creatures that call themselves Drogans. She remembers her mother saying about those were claimed to be extinct myths. She takes a deeper look as she notices one flew right to the throne room. Inside, she sees a man and two drogans. As she tries to listen to what one of the drogans conversations with the man. The Drogan warns the man, who was referred to as King Kyle, that an octopus monster have ravaged the meadows and ate the farm animals. Kyle was startled and baffled. He asked what and where did it even come from and yet there were no answers. She noticed one drogan, Deacon, his right hand drogan, sneak out of the throne room as quietly as possible. Seeing him come out, she ran quietly out of the castle and head back to Diamondville without anybody noticing she was gone

Upon unnoticed crash down in a mountain, Tiberius immediately ejected before impact and landed in a nearby pond. Getting up and drying himself, he attempts to communicate Tom and Tabitha via telepathy and list down the ingredients he needs and the ones he already has. But in order to do so, he disguises himself among the citizens of DiamondVille as most of the required ingredients come from human resources. Within 2 hours, Tiberius manages to get the necessary ingredients and call Tom and Tabitha to send him back to the ship. However, before they could do it in time, Tiberius was being muffled and suffocated by someone. But before he could see who, he blacked out. It turns out that the octopus monster, at the size of a human, caught him before he could finish his task. Luckily, while it took Tiberius with him, it didn’t take the small capsule containing the ingredients which Tiberius dropped. Back with Tom and Tabitha, they were startled and afraid that Tiberius was gone. They used a scope to find him, but all that was there was the capsule. They immediately teleported the ingredients to them and swore to finish the plan for Tiberius. After creating the DNA, they prepare to metamorphose the DNA into a life form and launch the capsule tank and themselves down to the island.

When Arlene Was Born

After last night’s crisis, everyone tried to pretend it never happened to prevent any sort of panic attacks. However, Tiffany was one of the only people who just couldn’t stop thinking about it. She felt like she needed to discuss it with someone. She gets dressed, calls Joey, and heads down to City Hall to meet up with the Mayor’s kids.

As we take a look at the kids, we have Tiago, the mayor’s 17 year old first born son and heir to the city, Desiree, the mayor’s 12 year old silly and energetic daughter, and Hoover, the mayor’s 7 year old cocky yet loyal son. All three of them are best friends with Tiffany. You’d think they’d wanna talk about it, but let’s see if that’s the case. As the alarm goes off, Desiree screams on the top of her lungs to wake her brothers up. And this isn’t the only time as they keep tell her they’ve gotten a new alarm. But she always comes up with the same excuse that she thought it was a timer, which is stupid because they’re both similar. As they get up and prepare for their day, Tiffany calls out for them through the window saying she wants to discuss something with them. Hearing her, they try to prep up quicker but end up getting tied up. They come out ready and ask Tiffany what was up. She told them that she wanted to talk about that incident last night. Tiago, Desiree, and Hoover gasped. Tiago then quietly said not to say that so loud. Their parents are still baffled and scarred from the incident. Hoover suggest they discuss this where no one would listen.

As they walk out of town, they head to the serene woods. On their way there, Tiffany asks them if they wonder if that monster will come back. They stop and pondered for a moment. It’s as if they don’t know if it would come back. Tiffany tells them that she saw it go to the castle. Tiago turned startled and slowly turned his head towards Tiffany and then asked softly, “Don’t tell me you just went in there...”. Tiffany realized he wasn’t kidding and insisted she didn’t. She thought if anyone found out she went there, she’d be interrogated to the point she be avoided by others. She asked what was in there exactly. Tiago and Desiree told her no one knows exactly who was in there, but rumors were made after 2 people went in there and never returned. One man went in there and wasn‘t heard from again. The other was Tiffany’s mother, who was taken there after trespassing on it’s property. Tiffany felt traumatized when she found out why her mother was gone. But then she asked again, what was in there. Tiago insisted that that was all they know. Tiffany asked about any creatures that were in there. Desiree pointed out the monster that Tiffany claimed went in there. Tiffany rolled her eyes and said never mind.

As Tiffany eventually looked up into the sky, she stopped and saw what looked like a comet. It was the capsule tank and a rocket. As they head down, the rocket crashed into the forest. They were all startled and ran quickly into the forest to find it. Tom and Tabitha exit out of the rocket and began to execute phase 2. They disguised themselves to look like humans. Their plan was to pose as their creatures parents, as it was a human hybrid. As the capsule crashed down, the creature was ejected, crashed through the glass surrounding her, and slammed into a tree. Luckily, she wasn’t hurt since she was durable. Tom and Tabitha found her and immediately ran to her to help. The creature looked at the two asking who they are. Tom says he’s her father and Tabitha is her mom. The creature asked what happened. Tabitha says she slammed into a tree and lost consciousness for a second. Tiffany and her friends eventually make it into the forest and saw the creature, Tom, and Tabitha. Tiffany came in and asked who they are. Tom and Tabitha immediately turned around and saw Tiffany and her friends. Tom said that they game him a startle. He introduced himself and Tabitha and said that their daughter was sent flying into a tree. Tiffany asked was it from the sky. Tom and Tabitha began to sweat, thinking she might have been on to them. Tabitha asked her was that what it was. Tiffany said yes. The creature then ask what hit her. Tom realized that the creature doesn’t have any memory to keep up the charade. He thought up a lie that the creature must have gotten amnesia and they all bought it. The creature then asked what her name was. Tom and Tabitha were both silent for a moment. He pulled Tabitha towards him to intervene for a moment about her. After a few seconds of debating, Tom called the creature “Arlene”. Tiffany and her friends thought that was a nice name. She asked Arlene if she would like to come to DiamondVille and see if she could refresh her memory. Arlene asked Tom and Tabitha and they agreed they’d all go with Tiffany and her friends.

We enter DiamondVille as Tiffany and her friends introduce Arlene to what the town offers. She shows her some of the residence, the many different places here like the towns famous restaurant, the police house, the park, as well as City Hall. With the tour, Mayor Weber and his wife, Valerie, came in and asked what they were doing. Tiago told them they were introducing Arlene to the town. Mayor Weber was confused and asked who the heck is Arlene. She introduces herself to him but stopped because she didn’t know much about herself besides her name. Tom and Tabitha then explain her disability and say she’s trying to learn more about this place. Mayor Weber says maybe he could help her out. He told her to meet him at Dine’N’Eats restaurant and have a discussion on what goes on around here and what‘s happened. In the meantime, Tiffany offers Arlene to come to her house for a while.

As Tiffany takes Arlene to her house, she gives her a tour of the place. Arlene asked if she lives alone. Tiffany said yes and Arlene was concerned, asking why. Tiffany stops and stays silent of a moment. She sighs and says “My mom passed away after an incident with what happened up that fog hill as my friends claim”. Arlene felt so bad and asked what happened. Tiffany says her friends believe that something took her mom after she went to far in and she never got out of there ever since. It lead to the citizens believing she was dead and it took until her friends mentioned her to realize she was gone. She then sat down and started to cry. Arlene told Tiffany she’s sorry for what happened. Tiffany says it obviously wasn’t her fault and she didn’t need to apologize. Arlene claims she at least has a huge heart towards other people. She even called Tiffany “Friend”. She felt touched to hear her call her that. She gave Arlene a big hug, saying thank you. She then hug back. With that, we could tell Arlene made her first true friend. Tiffany then asked to take a picture with Arlene. They took two photos so each of them would have at least one. With that, Tiffany decided to put it in her collection of other pictures of her, by herself, with her friends, and even with her mom.

What About Tiberius?

We enter back into the castle, where we see Deacon walk down the corridor to his office. As he enters, he turns towards a bodybag and takes it off, revealing Tiberius. Tiberius tries to struggle his way out of the chains, but they’re too tight. Deacon ordered him to stop or face more drastic punishment. Tiberius stops and tries to remain calm. Deacon then asked Tiberius what he was doing exactly. Tiberius denied he was doing anything, but Deacon wasn’t pleased with his attitude. He warned him to either speak or go through one of 3 punishments, something bad(Phantom), something really bad(Robo-Drogan), or “You don’t want to know”. Tiberius still refused and Deacon was turning more angry. Kyle then called him saying he needs to discuss something with him. Tiberius was so lucky Deacon was called out. With Deacon out, Tiberius uses this opportunity to escape. He tries to quietly take off the shackles using his telekinesis hands, without waking up Phantom or...Punishment #3, I guess. He then tip toed out of the room, disguised himself, and head out of the castle with no one noticing. He then makes a run for DiamondVille hoping to find Arlene.

Arlene Takes DiamondVille

When Arlene walked around DiamondVille, she’s heard a lot of people discussing about her and her disability. Hearing them, she started feeling insecure. She started running and the more they were talking about her, the faster she was running. It wasn’t until she bumped into Mayor Weber, not paying attention. She helped him back up and apologize. Mayor Weber, being forgiving, puts his arm around her and brings her into the restaurant. They call in reservation and have a simple discussion. He asks her to talk about herself. Arlene explains all she really remembers is her name. Mayor Weber was concerned. Arlene’s “disability” has gone a bit farther than normal amnesia. She then asked what exactly is even going on here. He then told her about the cephalopod incident from last night. Arlene felt frightened, while at the same time asked if it was a giant. Mayor Weber was struck for a second and said yes. And then she asked if it ate farm animals. He felt like she was up to something. He asked her how she knew. Arlene said she’s had some visions of a cephalopod monster eating farm animals. He was like that was the exact incident. One guy overheard their conversation and spread the word.

As Arlene and Weber were leaving the restaurant, Weber was stopped by a random guy who asked he wanted to have a discussion with him in private. As he took him to Town Hall, Arlene decided to go walk around DiamondVille. As she was doing so, she heard people discuss the gossip about her knowing about the incident despite not being there for it. Arlene asked what they were talking about and Tiffany said they were talking about her discussion with Mayor Weber about the cephalopod incident. Arlene felt embarrassed that she was overheard. Everyone gathered around her asking her questions. She was being asked multiple questions at once. She tried to answer them all, but she was constantly cut off with other questions. Arlene felt like she was about to explode in stress. Feeling so insecure, she let out a wave of psychic energy, her hair made a wing formation, and she screamed “QUI-I-I-I-I-I-IE-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-ET!”. Her scream was so loud it eventually reached the castle where Deacon overheard the sound and fell of his seat. Tom and Tabitha heard the screaming and immediately ran towards her. Arlene was panting in frustration, not noticing what’s happened. Everyone backed away from Arlene when they saw her hair formed a pair of wings. Tiffany said, “Arlene...uh...your hair?”. Arlene was like, “WHAT ABOUT IT?!”. She looked up, saw it, and began to panic in fear. Tom and Tabitha felt like there cover was blown. As such, they immediately ran towards Arlene and took her somewhere private, telling everyone to excuse them for a moment.

Deacon looked through his telescope to see Arlene and everyone else and he was like bingo. He immediately ran to the king to give him the word that he might have found a challenger. Kyle was intrigued and asked for more info. Deacon said he doesn’t have enough info about her exactly, but he will try to gather some information. Kyle felt like he was bluffing. Deacon says to give him 12 hours to get more information and Kyle took him up on that.

As for Arlene, she was hyperventilating in fear of what happened with her. Tabitha asked Arlene to calm down but she just gets more nervous. Tom says it’s fine, nothing too out of the ordinary. Arlene claims that’s not what everyone thinks. “They’ve been talking about me since she came“ she said. “What if I’m...a monster?”. Tabitha insures she‘s not a monster. Tiffany comes in and asked if there sure she’s not a monster. Tom insists Arlene is completely normal. Tiffany suspects they’re hiding something. She told them to spill the beans and be honest. Tom and Tabitha tell her that she’s no monster. Tiago, Desiree, and Hoover come in to tell them that they’re obviously behind something. Everyone except Arlene begins to argue over each other. Arlene felt guilty that maybe she was responsible for something. It wasn’t until she secretly ran away till everyone stopped arguing. Tom and Tabitha were so frighted that Arlene was gone. They ran out to look for her. Tiffany, Desiree, Tiago, and Hoover then followed them to find Arlene. They run out the door to see Arlene running out of the town crying. They chase after her.

Secret Revealed

Mayor Weber went into his office with the random guy to hear what he has to say. He asks Weber to cover the windows as what he has is very important and secretive. As he closes the curtains, he asked what exactly does he have that is so important that no one else should know. The guy asked if he talked to someone with a “disability”. Weber says that was Arlene he was talking with. He said she’s has amnesia and weird abilities from what he overheard from everyone in town. The guy tells him she’s not what she thinks. She’s a creature who was meant to save you from a monster. Weber was confused, but then realized he was talking about the cephalopod monster. Weber then asked how does he know who Arlene really is. The guy reveals his true identity. It was Tiberius. Weber felt startled and traumatized. Tiberius explains he created a creature to take care of the incident that happened on this island. He then asked does he know where she went. Weber explains he doesn’t know. Eventually, all of a sudden, Valerie, Mayor Weber’s wife, came in asking where the kids were. She suddenly stopped in fear when she saw Tiberius. Mayor Weber explains that Tiberius came to take care of the incident that happened last night. Valarie asked if Tiberius was telling the truth. Tiberius explains what he told him was true. He then asked if their kids was with Arlene. Weber told him their kids have met her. Tiberius asked if maybe Weber and Valarie can track down their kids cause maybe their trying to find Arlene. They saw what he was getting at and said maybe they could try to find them. As of that, Tiberius disguised himself and all three of them went to find them

Arlene was still running in despair and guilt and everyone else was still following her. Tabitha asked Arlene to stop running and calm down. Arlene said ”NO! STAY AWAY!”. She ran faster trying to lose their tail up until, not paying attention, she immediately stopped screaming in fear. As everyone else caught up to her and asking what’s wrong. They later looked at where Arlene was looking and they all were traumatized. They were all standing in front of the remaining of the farm animals. Arlene realized this is the incident Weber was telling her about and she was visioning. Tiffany asked how she could possibly vision this. She was around for that. Tom asked maybe it’s because her disability. Desiree suggest maybe it’s what she was thinking about when Weber told her about it. Arlene asked if maybe she’s knew about this before she was born. Tiago asked in confusion “How is that possible?”. Tom and Tabitha said she has a disability. Maybe she have been envision things that the people discussed exactly. Suddenly, some one claims “Or maybe it’s because she was made to take care of all of this. Everyone turned around to see Tiberius’s disguise form. Arlene asked who he was. Mayor Weber and Valerie came up and asked Tiberius to reveal himself. He then turns back into his original form. Arlene was startled. Everyone eventually turned towards Tom and Tabitha, who are looking nervous. They said “Busted...” towards each other and turn back to their normal identities. They were all shocked with Desiree screaming in fear and running towards her parents. Arlene looked like she was being used. She asked them why they lied to her and everyone else. Tom explained they were trying to boost your confidence and courage, but only managed to make you look like a freak. Tiffany asked to explain what the heck is even going on. Tiberius explains that he, Tom, and Tabitha created Arlene to help find the culprit behind the cephalopod incident. Arlene then asked why they didn’t just reveal their identities from the start. Tabitha says that it would lead to the town in a state of disbelief or panic. Tiberius asked everyone to follow her around and he’ll explain more.

Angel Heart

We see Deacon and 2 other drogans investigate the rocket capsule that Arlene was contained in. Deacon took a look at data banks in the capsule to find out if he could find more info on Arlene. He reads...

”Creature #403: This creature has the power of telekinesis, allowing her to pick up and move things with her mind, form telekinesis hands to use in assistance or defense, raise and extend her hair to grab object or use as wings, cast illusions, shoot concussive energy blasts, raise psychic shields, ignite things with pyrokinesis, freeze others in place wether it be through psychic powers or incasing one in crystal, predict and vision oncoming threats, and rapid fire teleport.

Deacon felt he could use this to the information to his advantage. One of the drogans noticed a button in the rocket asking ”What does this button do?”. Deacon told him not to press it. But the drogan trips over and lands his upper jaw on the button. The rocket began to shoot down through the ground. After it stopped, the ground around them started to vibrate. And then, all of a sudden, a giant glowing pink gem-like heart bursted through the ground with a gray marble-like pedestal rising underneath it. The drogans immediately retreated back to the castle, while Deacon took cover behind the bushes. It was until Arlene overheard it and was curious. She ran quickly to the forest to find out what‘s happening. When she got to the source, she saw the giant pedestal and its heart above it. The rest of the gang caught up to hear asking what happened. She said that she heard and saw that. As everyone looked up towards it. Tiberius, Tom, and Tabitha was befuddled. Tiffany said what that was suppose to be. Tiberius took a closer look and saw an engraving that said “Angel Heart”. It looked like it’s capsule. When Tiberius touched it with his telekinesis hand, it started to glow 6 lined symbols. Tiberius, Tom, and Tabitha were startled. Those were the symbols that represent the Galactic Comets. Tiffany said she’s heard of the Galactic Comets, but she thought they were actually a legend. Her mom told a story about them when she was 3. She said there was Intelligence, Agility, Magic, Bravery, Leadership, and Assistance. Arlene thought maybe Tiberius, Tom, and Tabitha could do something. Tiberius says they cannot. The group has split up and the spirits that represent the Galactic Comets are no longer in there. Tom suggest maybe the spirits are in the Angel Heart.

While everyone began discussing about the Angel Heart, Deacon was in the bush as he was eavesdropping on their discussion. Arlene then turned around and noticed Deacon. He suddenly went to defense mode and quickly hid back into the bush and try to escape on tip toe. But it was too late, Arlene caught Deacon and he immediately retreated back to the castle. Arlene eventually tried to chase him down and everyone else eventually saw Arlene and followed her. Arlene told Deacon to stop now or he’ll make it worse for him. Deacon denied saying to get away from him. Deacon eventually got back to the foggy mountain. Before Arlene to catch up closer, Mayor Weber and Valerie grabbed a hold of Arlene telling her not to go into the fog. Arlene told them to let her go but they aren’t budging. They say it’s too dangerous. Tiberius says Arlene is capable of doing this. She has those psychic powers. Mayor Weber says what’s in there is unknowns. They could have abilities that outmatch hers. Tiffany tries to convince them Arlene could do it. Tiago says what’s up there is deadly, especially after what happened to the last 2 people who went there. Tiffany says they could still be weak compared to Arlene. Hoover then asked how would she know if they’re weak or not. Tiffany realized she nearly spilled the beans and she tried to retracts her statement. It wasn’t until Mayor Weber thought Tiffany did something she wasn’t suppose to do. They all tell her to be honest and tell the truth. Tiffany, feeling guilty and ashamed, admits she went up there last night to find answers to the incident. Everyone was traumatized and gasped with Desiree fainting. Hoover said “WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!”. Weber then added “YOU COULD OF ENDED UP LIKE YOUR MOTHER!”. Tiffany said that she was just looking for answers. She saw the cephalopod go up there. Arlene, listening to her words, thought maybe she knew who was responsible for this. She then told Tiffany that what she did maybe could help out. Tiffany was surprised that what she did could solve the crisis. She then said thanked her for saying that and then apologized to her friends, Mayor Weber, and Valarie for what she did, saying she deserves to be reminded of her punishment. Mayor Weber, being the nice guy, tells Tiffany that what’s important is that she‘s ok. They’ll let this slide and not let anyone look down at her for it. Arlene said that they’ll have to tell the town about the culprit behind the crisis. Tiffany insist she’ll tag along with Arlene. She asked her if she’s sure about this. She answers that they killed her mom, and no one does that and gets away with it that easily. Tiago and Desiree say they’ll tag along too, but their parents aren’t sure. They’re definite on Hoover staying, but Tiago says he’s definitely capable of defending himself as much as defending her family. Mayor Weber gathers his trust and tells him and Desiree “Good luck and be careful”. Tiberius says he’ll tag along as well while Tom and Tabitha go to DiamondVille to help warn the town. As of that, Arlene, Tiberius, Tiffany, Tiago, and Desiree went into the fog and castle, and Mayor Weber, Valerie, Hoover, Tom, and Tabitha went back to DiamondVille to warn the citizens

Pre-Final Battle

Deacon charges through the halls screaming, “Prepare to battle! A challenger approaches!”. Drogans quickly flew to their stations and tripling security. Deacon bursts through the doors of the throne room and warned Kyle that he’s got a conclusion and it’s on its way. Kyle was confused and asked Deacon to explain. Deacon said he’ll explain when there‘s a chance cause they’ll need to get reinforcement. They eventually heard a door crash open. Deacon quickly ran into his office and wake Phantom up. He told Kyle to prepare himself. Arlene is coming. As Arlene stormed through the halls, Drogan hoards came in to take down Arlene. But she was too strong for them to take down. As she went to find the throne room, she took down the drogans that tried to stop her. As for Tiberius and Tiffany, they used their skills to locate the throne room. Tiago and Desiree went to keep watch of any nearby drogans. By the time they reached the throne room, they thought they were in the home stretch. But then...”ROOOAR!”. They were cornered by Phantom, Robo-Drogan, and a hoard of drogans blocking them in all directions. They were all stumped, but Arlene remembered her psychic powers. She let out a giant psychic explosion, pushing all of the drogans put of their way, except Phantom and Robo-Drogan who were just blown down. Phantom, getting back up, pounced towards Arlene, but missed as Arlene was smaller than him. Tiberius told her to make a run for it. Arlene was then in a case sequence as Phantom and Robo-Drogan began to follow her, but she was just to fast for them. Arlene eventually lost them, but now she had to find her way back. She went from room to room, finding the throne room. Deacon eventually caught Arlene and chased her down. Of course, she was fast and when she lost her, he immediately went for plan b. Deacon blew the horn to call Phantom and Robo-Drogan, as well as “you don’t want to know”.

As Arlene managed to find the throne room again, she went in and saw Tiffany, Tiago, and Desiree locked in a dangling cage and Tiberius caught in shackles hanging on the ceiling. King Kyle then stood up his throne and said “State your business” while pulling a blade behind his back. Arlene says “I know what you and your henchmen are up to.” Deacon ran inside the throne room and startled to see Arlene beat him to it. Kyle looked toward Deacon saying, “I thought you took care of her”. Deacon explains she was too fast and powerful for him to take care of. Arlene turned towards Deacon saying why he and Kyle were committing murdering. Kyle questioned, “What do you mean murder?”. Arlene, feeling insulted, turned towards Kyle and told him he killed 2 people who trespassed and later the farm animals with that monster. Kyle said that he lied about the two murders, saying he made up the guy who disappeared. Tiffany yelled, “THEN WHAT HAPPENED TO MY MOM!”. Kyle said she disappeared after I captured her, but she is definitely gone. Arlene, drew a telekinesis sword and slashed through Kyle’s cloak revealing his prosthetic arm. Tiberius saw it and immediately realized who he was. Tiberius tried to break free, but the shackles were much tighter than last time. Tiberius spoke “I knew you looked familiar!”. Kyle realized his arm was showing. Furious at Arlene for attacking her, he called in reinforcement to take her down. Arlene had to think fast and she used telekinesis to free everyone. After they were free, Arlene tells them to make a run for it and get out before it’s too late. She’ll handle the rest. Tiffany insists they’ll stay and hold off the drogans. Tiberius then tells her to take care of Kyle. It wasn’t until a creature named Ripjaw(who I referred to him as “You Don’t Want To Know!) tackled Arlene before she could battle Kyle. Deacon eventually ran to his office to take care of important matters, leaving Kyle and Ripjaw to battle out Arlene.

Back in DiamondVille, Mayor Weber called an emergency, calling every citizens to an announcement on what‘s happening. Everyone gathers around asking question like “What’s going on” or “Is it something important”. Mayor Weber announces that he was told to tell them that they have found answers. He said “Arlene believes the culprit is up there!”, pointing at the foggy hill. Everyone was startled and worried saying no one has ever went up there. Valerie announces that she’s and her friends went up to there to stop the culprit. Everyone questioned what Arlene was thinking. Tom stepped in and announced that she’s actually a creature created to stop the monster responsible for killing the farm animals. Everyone was caught by the words ”creature”, asking him what he meant. Tom and Tabitha transformed back to their normal forms, revealed their true identities. Everyone was shocked and some paralyzed. Tabitha said not to start a panic, and they’ll all need to barricade themself in the in the town hall till all of this passes over.

Octo-Bash!

As Arlene was battling it on with Kyle and Ripjaw, Deacon came down and threw a fish tank containing a octopus. As the tank shattered, the octopus began to mutate and grow bigger. Arlene back away until she got to the wall. Kyle climb up onto one of it tentacles and Ripjaw quickly went out the window to prevent it from blowing him away. As the octopus grew bigger, it blew out of the roof sending Arlene flying far into the forest, banging her head onto Angel Heart, knocking her unconscious. Ripjaw used his psychic powers to pull the cephalopod out, but not before it could grab a hold of Tiberius, Tiffany, Tiago, and Desiree with its tentacles. Ripjaw and Kyle then ordered the monster to head for DiamondVille. The grounds began to vibrate around the citizens and they eventually saw the monster coming to kill them. Mayor Weber told them to get into the Town Hall Building immediately.

Arlene eventually woke up from unconsciousness and saw the monster heading to DiamondVille. She had to act fast. She charged up all her might and power and flew at lightning speed. Before the monster could make its move, Arlene kicked it right in the cheek bone and he flew down into the water. It was at that moment, Arlene and the Octopus were in a one on one battle. Kyle and Ripjaw gave it assistance by doubling its power. As they were battling, Tiffany and Tiberius tried to break free of the tentacles. In doing so, they try to get at Kyle and Ripjaw so they could weaken the monster. Tom and Tabitha seeing the carnage, were worried about Tiberius and Arlene. They decide to rush to him and help him out. As Tiberius went for Ripjaw, he grabbed a hold of him and stop him. But Ripjaw was to strong for him. Tom and Tabitha tried to help out by holding down Ripjaw as well. As for Tiffany, she tried to climb up the monster’s head to get to Kyle and tackle him. With Kyle and Ripjaw unable to power up the monster, Arlene had the advantage and she was able to take him down. The monster was still going for it. He just doesn’t give up. Arlene had to give him the slip somehow. She looked around and saw an opening in the castle. She flew right into the castle to find something to take it down. Ripjaw breaks free and the monster grabs Tiberius, and now, Tom and Tabitha. As Arlene goes through the castle, Ripjaw sees her and tries to stop her. She enters a weapons room where she sees a giant rocket missile. Ripjaw grabs a hold of Arlene before she could use it though. Deacon and Phantom eventually come in to help him out. But Arlene was too vigilant and expected their oncoming moves. It wasn’t until the octopus monster managed to get his tentacles into the room. In an attempt to grab her, she tricks it into launching the rocket. Arlene goes around the missile and letting the octopus monster tangle it’s arms around the rocket to the point it was stuck. Tiberius and everyone else manage to break free of the tentacles and try to help Tiffany. But Kyle manages to get a hold of her and threatens to have her see her mother in the sky if they make one false move. Kyle feels so amused that a little 7 year old girl would put up a fight with an all-mighty adult with powers like Arlene and Tiberius. Tiffany tells Kyle that she wasn’t actually attacking him, she was just distracting him and she points towards Arlene as she takes down Phantom and Ripjaw, pulls the trigger and the octopus monster gets pulled into the air by the rocket missile. Tiffany, Tiberius, and everyone else jump off of the monster as it ascends into the sky while Kyle teleports back to the castle. Arlene notices everyone falling to their demise and Arlene quickly goes and grabs everyone as they descend. And they fly back to DiamondVille. The octopus reaches altitude where missile‘s blast could launch it out of the stratosphere and then...KA-BOOM!

The missile explodes in a giant fireball, not only incinerating the octopus, but also sending some of its remains such as the decapitated head and 4 of its tentacles into outer space where it could never come back. As Deacon, Ripjaw, Phantom, and all the other drogans see this, they were all startled. Deacon cried, “I’M GONNA MISS MY LITTLE OCTY!!!”. Ripjaw told him, “Well, it’s like they say, you can’t treat your monsters for granted. As Kyle appears back in the castle, he‘s stroke down. Everyone tried to help him up. When he look up towards the explosion, he swore that far in the future, when Arlene and DiamondVille is least expecting it, he will get his revenge. Arlene flies down towards DiamondVille’s grounds and places everyone down gently, except for Desiree where she flops on purpose because she was not paying attention to her landing. The citizens exit the Town Hall when Arlene said, “Well, I guess that happened.”. Everyone cheered for Arlene saying she saved the town. She became a hero. She‘s truly been blessed.

One Final Announcement

As everyone gathered around for an announcement, Mayor Weber came up and said, “As the Mayor of DiamondVille, I would like to say thank Arlene for saving us all.”. Everyone chanted at Arlene to speech. Arlene came up and said, “I know you’re all here because I saved you all, but I didn’t do it alone. Far from it. I had my friends. There’s Tiffany, Tiberius, Tom, Tabitha. They stood by my side and help me in the most of hard situations. If it weren’t for them, my chances of saving you all would be low. It’s crazy how I’ve started out not knowing who I was, but Tiffany made me discover what life is. I owe them a lot”. Everyone cheered for her and her friends. Mayor Weber then came up and bestowed Arlene the title of “Defender of DiamondVille”, giving her a medal that is a symbol of heroism. Arlene swore that in the case of any trouble, she will be there to save them. It was at this day, Arlene began her rain as the hero of DiamondVille

Epilogue

We take a look back at Angel Heart where the heart above began to glow. Then, one of the 6 symbols on the pedestal, the blue symbol representing leadership to be exact, filled up with blue light. What could this mean? Well, we’ll have to find out in the future

The film premiered in El Capitan Theater on July 12, 1999.

The film was released in theaters worldwide on July 15, 1999. The film would be accompanied with the Fairly Oddparents short, The Zappys.

Home-Media Release

Arlene was released on DVD and VHS on November 1, 1999.

A special edition DVD and Blu-Ray was released in March 2007, which included a copy of the original graphic novel by Robert Nadal.

Marketing and Promotions

Beginning in March of 1999, Arlene has had a hugh marketing to promote the film. Big known companies such as McDonalds, Toys R Us, and CBS began promoting the film with it’s merchandising, bumpers, and more.

Robert Graphic Novels — As Robert began to publish the Arlene graphic novel, some of them came with one free child’s ticket to see the film in theaters.
McDonald’s — Throughout July, Mcdonald’s Happy Meals came with 7 different Arlene toys.
Target — Target has had store exclusive plushes, posters, and figurines beginning in May.
Universal Studios Florida — Arlene became a walk around character in Universal Studios beginning in June 1999. The walk around character would also make it to Nickelodeon Suites Resort in 2005.

Reception

The film has received positive reviews from fans and critics alike. The film grossed $320 million worldwide. The film has received a 80% on rotten tomatoes based off of 121 reviews. It was one of Nickelodeon Movie’s highest grossing films until later films outgrossed it.

The film was nominated an Annie Award for Best Animated Feature but lost to Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 2. It became the first Nickelodeon film to be nominated an Annie Award for that category.

Expanded Franchise

Tv Show

After the success of the film, a tv show was greenlit and began production in October 1999. Arlene the Series premiered on Nickelodeon on June 4, 2000.

Sequels

With the success of the film and Nickelodeon acquiring 40% of the Arlene franchise, it wouldn’t have been long until Paramount, Robert, and Nickelodeon would work on Arlene 2. The film would be set to released on October 2002, but after the 9/11, the film was edited out and pushed back to February 2003.

Trivia

This is the first Robert Graphic Novel film adaption, first animated Nickelodeon film that’s not based off of a Nicktoon, and the second animated Nickelodeon film.
