The Anti-bending Revolution, also known as the Equalist Revolution, was a period of social and political unrest in the Land of Fire in 127 AG with the increasing tension between benders and nonbenders, the latter who felt opressed by bending crime syndicates and missing-nin as well as a militaristic political system that was controlled by the desires of the Kage and foreign powers.

The United Republic Council, which overheaded the United Republic of Nations in the place of the Feudal Lords, was only made up of Kage, the strongest benders of their villages, adding to the feeling of oppression. This led to the rise of the Equalist movement, an insurrectionist cell led by the mysterious Amon, secretly armed by the industrialist Hiroshi Sato, who told the masses what they wanted to hear.
