Alice in Wonderland is a 2026 American animated fantasy adventure film produced by Sony Pictures Animation and distributed by Columbia Pictures. Based on Lewis Carroll's 1865 novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, it directed by Patrick McHale (in his feature directorial debut) and written by McHale and Alex Hirsch and features the voices of McKenna Grace, Jason Schwartzman, Matt Berry, Will Forte, Bill Burr, Olivia Colman, Simon Pegg, Idris Elba, Ayo Edebiri, and Nick Frost. The film's visuals utilize a watercolor aesthetic, inspired by the Spider-Verse franchise and the works of Hayao Miyazaki.

On September 26, 2025, Sony Pictures Animation announced an animated film adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, with Patrick McHale set to write and direct in his feature directorial debut and John Cohen set to produce.

Casting[]

In March 2026, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross were revealed to be composing the score with the release of the film's trailer. Additionally, two original songs were announced to be made for the film, performed and co-written by Florence Welch.

Alice in Wonderland received critical acclaim. On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 96% of 252 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 8.7/10. Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 87 out of 100, based on 46 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "A" on an A+ to F scale, and those surveyed by PostTrak gave it a 96% overall positive score.
