Adventures in Inner Thoughts is the eighth studio album by American musician-filmmaker Carl Andy, released through his Dreidel Records vanity label and distributed by CBS Records, it was Andy's attempt at going for a more mainstream pop vibe inspired by the likes of Genesis and others while still relying on his usual sound, along with more vocal based tracks with contributions from Frankie Sullivan of Survivor, Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon, Joe Jackson and Jim Steinman, it was also Andy's first album released on CD.

The cover art was designed by Japanese animation studio Pierrot and depicts Ataru Moroboshi from the series Urusei Yatsura, Carl Andy liked the series so much he wanted the character to be used for the album art, leading to it's usage after an agreement with Rumiko Takahashi.

Adventures in Inner Thoughts was released in November 15, 1985 to positive acclaim and was a bestselling hit. It's still seen today as one of Andy's best and one of the best albums of the 1980s, as well as many considering it to be Andy's mangum opus.
