Additionally, Kate Micucci, Taran Killam, and Emily Lynne did the cheering voices of the spectators at the mock performance in the pizza shop and during the music contest itself.

Story[]

The film opens with Nature Cat, Squeeks, Daisy, Hal, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, and Marvin playing musical instruments. They all practice the song "Nature Cat's Superstars". After that, they congratulated each other on a job well done. They clean up their instruments. As they finish cleaning up, they all share high-fives and congratulations, already looking forward to their next performance. Suddenly, Hal warns the group, saying that they can't be messing around all day for some kind of music battle, which will happen tomorrow. Nature Cat, Squeeks, Daisy, Hal, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, and Marvin wonder where they're going with their instruments. They all take a special pirate ship that the adult Gwendolyn made to get to their place to go: the big city. She mentions that the pirate ship also works on land. However, the pirate ship stops working halfway through the drive which causes the band to have to walk to the big city with their equipment in hand. They stop walking when they notice a sign that doesn't talk. It appeared out of nowhere in a dust cloud that the pirate ship caused when it drifted off of a road minutes ago. The band, however, doesn't know where the big city is, and Daisy's GPS tracker soon runs out of battery. They have to haul their musical instrument equipment in a wagon with them as they walk through the sandy dunes as the sky sunsets, with nowhere else to stop or get any drinks of water.

They have a big break when they stop in a pizza shop and feed on some pizzas. As they eat, they look out of the window to see a bus stop that will take them to the Music Battle Arena in the big city. Daisy drinks from Hal's drink and the latter drinks from Daisy's, causing a small fight between the two. However, they instead turn their attention to a TV screen, which explains some news about the upcoming "Battle Of Animal Music Bands" at the Stadium Express, hosted by a talkative two legged deer a happy-go-lucky female opossum. After the program ends, Nature Cat, Squeeks, Daisy, Hal, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, and Marvin want to practice a little more before they can take on the ultimate challenge. They gather on a stage in the middle of the pizza shop in front of a mock audience of wild animals who were eating their food in the pizza shop, and they once again play their song, "Nature Cat's Superstars", much to the mock audience's excitement. A female two legged red fox, nicknamed Emily, was sitting at a nearby table, worried about entering the upcoming contest without a band for her to take care of. She overheard the mock performance, but didn't get to watch it, as she was too afraid. Meanwhile, the band is still busy taking in the applause from the pizza diners when they hear a horn sound. Hal says it's the bus leaving. So he gathers everything into the wagon, and then, he, Nature Cat, Squeeks, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, and Marvin run out of the shop and over to the bus stop with their equipment before the bus leaves without them. However, they made it out to the bus stop too late. They become sad when the bus schedule turns black, leaving the group stranded. Meanwhile in the pizza shop, a little baby cat named Marlin, a male daddy brown cat named Lee, and a mom cat named Ellen were passing by before they leave to go home, mentioning to each other that the music they've heard from the band was "Supreme!". Emily overhears their comment about the Nature Cat band and runs over to her car, driving over to Nature Cat, Squeeks, Daisy, Hal, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, and Marvin and eagerly greeting them at the blackened bus stop.

This suddenly confuses Nature Cat, Squeeks, Daisy, Hal, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, and Marvin, because they were only asking for her help. But before the band accepts, Emily starts blabbering to the animals that she's also a music manager who does certain things for bands, like organize events, greeting fans, and helping bands write songs. The band gets comfy in Emily's car while Emily gets their wagon with their instruments. They then stop in a nearby campsite and visit Emily's home. For the night, they get cozy and tidy in bed as they dream off about what's to come. The next day, they decide to go to check out the contest. A group of musicians pass by Nature Cat, Emily, Hal, Squeeks, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, and Marvin. He's a two-legged raccoon named Boris and he has three special bandmates that consist of 2 female dogs and 1 female two-legged fox. After a brief interaction with each other, Nature Cat, Emily, Hal, Squeeks, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, and Marvin stop at the entrance of the Music Battle Arena, wowed at how big the building is. They enter the building.

Inside the building, a stage is set up before a massive cheering crowd of animals of different sizes, colors, and shapes, all of whom are holding a glow stick with a happy face on it. Suddenly, the light goes dark and everybody grows quiet, wondering what will happen next. And then, a spotlight shines down on the stage, illuminating a figure standing at the microphone. It's the host, a charismatic deer, who introduces himself as Buster, and he's grinning from ear to ear. The crowd erupts into cheers as another host, the female opossum named Katie, took the stage. The two hosts welcome the crowd to the Battle Of Animal Music Bands at the Stadium Express. They then explain the rules to the audience: there are multiple bands in this contest which will compete for the very best song, but the audience will need to vote for the best music band that will win the Battle Of Animal Music Bands. Buster then says that the contest is divided into a tournament bracket, which splits up each band that will go against each other. The musical band with more votes will move on to the next round. A screen pans through all of the bands that have gone through the qualification. After the screen finishes showing all the competing bands, Katie and Buster announce the first matchup: the band 'Electric Storm' and their opponents, the band 'Harmony Heroes'. Much to the crowd's applause and excitement, Boris and his three bandmates (as the Harmony Heroes) go first with a song about how cool they are. Then the rock band Electric Storm performs their song.

As such, while Hal, Squeeks, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, and Marvin were enjoying the two performances with the rest of the animal audience, and hope that one of them will win the contest, Emily suddenly forced them out of the building since they'll be performing tomorrow and that they don't have enough time to slack off. As they walk away from the arena, they can still hear the music and cheering of the crowd, and they can't help but feel a sense of anticipation for their own performance tomorrow. They begin to practice what to do to hype up the crowd, with Emily adding in different ideas and motions. The next day was day 2 of the contest. A heavy rock band just finished their performance. And then Hal, Squeeks, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, and Marvin were next to go. They're taken aback by the sheer crowd they will perform for and don't know what to do, but Daisy encourages her band to go on with the performance and have fun at the same time. As planned, Hal, Squeeks, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, and Marvin perform a new song called "A Happy Song." It goes well for the group at first until Hal, Squeeks, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, and Marvin start to have mishaps with their instruments near the end of the song, causing the crowd to laugh at them, embarrassing the band. After the round ends, Buster and Katie ask the crowd to vote for their favorite band and their act after the round ends. The happy faces from the glow sticks fill up a happy face voting meter for the 2 bands: Alolan Beats and Hal, Squeeks, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, and Marvin. Both bands are quietly waiting to see who moves on to the next round, but it's Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, Squeeks, Marvin, and Hal. As such, Marvin, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, Squeeks, and Hal are now happy to be moving on, despite their errors in their performance. Marvin, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, Squeeks, and Hal move on to another round when they defeat another band, then Boris and his three bandmates (as the Harmony Heroes) perform very well in their round and win against a band of reggae animals. But, Emily saw everything from the Harmony Heroes in secret. In the morning at Emily's house, Emily then rallies her weary band to practice more and more so that they can take down the Harmony Heroes and win the contest. While walking through a very big crowd of fans, three fans, which were Marlin, Lee, and Ellen the mom cat from earlier at the pizza shop, ask for a photo with Nature Cat, Squeeks, Daisy, Hal, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, and Marvin, and they take the photo with the cat family, including their other fans.

As the contest goes on, Marvin, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, Squeeks, and Hal move on to more rounds when they defeat more music bands with their own new songs and votes, becoming a popular music band in the big city. Meanwhile, Boris and his 3 bandmates are doing just the same thing as them, sparking some jealousy from Emily, who continues to oversee everything from backstage. Eventually, the Harmony Heroes and Hal, Squeeks, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, and Marvin are up against one another in the finals after both teams successfully won the semi finals. The next day was the finals. Katie and Buster address the crowd, welcoming them to the finals. They first introduce the Harmony Heroes to perform, as they deliver a thrilling pop performance on risers, impressing their fanbase, hoping that they will win. Then, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Marvin, Nature Cat, Squeeks, and Hal are up to play their song, but suddenly, the announcers don't see them anywhere. Katie believes that the Harmony Heroes will win this contest for their performance, and Buster thinks the same, but the two announcers suddenly take that back when Marvin, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, Squeeks, and Hal showed up after a while to deliver an even thrilling performance of the song "A Happy Song", much to the audience's excitement and applause. As the two songs finished, it was clear that this was going to be a battle for the ages as the crowd erupted into applause, and the two competing bands took their bows, excited and ready to win it. Then the votes were flooding in fast. The votes suddenly stop pouring in after a while and Buster sees that the happy face meter for Hal, Squeeks, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, and Marvin has 499 votes.

Buster reports to the stadium audience that their opponent may have more votes than they do. When Katie finds out that the happy face meter for the Harmony Heroes has the same number of votes, which is 499, everyone now gets confused. Daisy says that the votes are evenly split, and it's unclear who will be declared the winner if they have the same amount of votes. Hal believes that it's a tie. Squeeks thinks the voting system is broken. Buster and Katie look at each other, unsure of what to do next since someone has not cast a vote yet. However, they all look at Marlin, Lee, and Ellen, who then walk to the front of the audience, and stop when they reach the front of the stage. Marlin is cheering excitedly, waving his happy face meter around and meowing the names of Marvin, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, Squeeks, and Hal (as if to say that the cat family votes for the band). Finally, Marlin then presses the button to send his vote, and the happy face flies to the stage from the glow stick, with everybody watching the flying happy face.

The flying happy face hits the screen showing Marvin, Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Nature Cat, Squeeks, and Hal with a click. Katie and Buster then go over to it and report on what they had seen. Everyone wants to know who won. The number then rises from 499 to 501 votes. This means that Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Marvin, Nature Cat, Squeeks, and Hal win the contest. The crowd is cheering loudly, and the confetti is falling from the ceiling. In response, Emily jumps onto Daisy, Mini Nature Cat, Gwendolyn, Marvin, Squeeks, and Hal from out of nowhere (except for Nature Cat), which causes the winners to feel dizzy.

Boris and his 3 bandmates, having been defeated by Nature Cat and his amazing band, offer their sincere congratulations to the winning band. One of the bandmates then requests to sing with the winning band after saying that their performed song had a "spark that wasn't in their own song". They then hear the crowd softly cheering on both teams. Emily wants them to give it all they've got as she agrees with the idea. The movie ends with the two bands performing a special encore song, one that will bring the house down and leave a lasting impression on the crowd.
