Plot[]

The movie follows Cubi, a lovable and quirky teen, as he navigates his relationship with his crush, Lara Campos, a famous celebrity from Mexico. Cubi’s life takes a dramatic turn when he finds himself involved in an extravagant quinceañera celebration—his own! After an unexpected turn of events, Lara becomes a guest at his quinceañera, and the two begin to form a closer bond. However, not everyone is supportive of their growing relationship.

As Cubi prepares for the big day, he faces various challenges, including an overly enthusiastic group of classmates from Primero B, who are eager to know more about Lara and their potential relationship. Along the way, Cubi learns the importance of staying true to himself, facing his insecurities, and dealing with the public attention surrounding his romance with Lara.

The quinceañera itself becomes a momentous event, filled with comedy, awkward moments, and heartfelt confessions. From dance rehearsals to unexpected group conflicts and heartwarming moments, the film showcases Cubi's personal growth as he comes to terms with the realities of being in the public eye and what it means to love someone so incredible like Lara.

However, their relationship doesn’t come without its drama. As their love story grows, Cubi must confront the toxic fandom and online hate from groups who have issues with Lara’s relationship. He also has to deal with his own self-doubt and whether or not he’s truly good enough for someone like her. Alongside his friends and family, including his little sister Bolita, Cubi navigates these personal and social hurdles while learning valuable life lessons.

The movie culminates in a grand, heartwarming finale at the quinceañera, where Cubi and Lara have to face their fears and insecurities in front of a live audience. With a dramatic performance of a special song, they declare their feelings for each other, solidifying their bond for all to see.

In a post-credits scene, it’s revealed that the couple plans to get married in the future, giving a hopeful glimpse into their long-lasting love.

Objectionable content[]

Sexual Content[]

MODERATE.

  • There is a quite noticeable amount of innuendos in the movie, most of them coming from 1°B students.
  • Use of "Netflix & Chill", "Cuties Fan" and other algospeak terms.
  • Many, many hugs and kisses between Lara and Cubi.

Violence[]

MODERATE.

  • Rhenne, the frog plush, gets into a fight with Dylan and the frog plush gets cut in half.
  • Many symbolic and fantasy violence with blood.

Language[]

MODERATE.

  • 10 uses of the f-word, 35 uses of the s-word, as well as other swear words throughout.
  • Mild euphemisms.
  • Modern algospeak is used, oral and written.
  • Informal/coloquial language throughout.

Drugs, Smoking and Alcohol[]

MODERATE.

  • Wine appears in the movie at Cubi's party.
  • Dylan goes drunk to hallucinate and instead of seeing Lara Campos, he would see a stand-upper show. His plan fails miserably as he gets a headache instead.

Intense Scenes[]

MODERATE.

  • Although the movie itself is pretty intense, we have to acknowledge that Lara's childish vibes and kids songs, plus the cute moments between Lara and Cubi, helped the movie get a lower rating (al least in countries other than the USA)

Trivia[]

  1. This is Sony Picture Animation's third adult animation film, with the previous being Sausage Party and Fixed.
  2. This crossover wasn't planned and Lara and 1°B had their own movies before 2026, until the executive producer, director, writer and voice actor of Cubi in 2 dubs, Santiago S, contacted Lara to see if they could mix their movies.
  3. International rating systems were divided by this movie. While the MPAA rated it R because it had more than 1 f-word, other international dubs (including the original Latin Spanish dub) had a more soft dub and replaced the f-words by euphemisms, but the innuendos, drug mentions, and violence was still there. However, Lara's kids songs, cuteness and the life lesson made the movie more "suitable" for young audiences, which caused it to get a lower rating on many countries.
  4. This is the first movie where Lara Campos appears. All of her other productions where she acted were TV shows. And it's also the first multimedia with a rating higher than B (Mexico) where she participates (highest rating was La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo in 2017, with a C rating.)
  5. This is one of the few movies where the original dub is Latin Spanish.
  6. Rhenne is depicted as a rebelious teenager in this movie, instead of a baby/toddler, which justifies his fight with Dylan.
