Presidents

Gavin Kramer

Gavin Richard Kramer (October 23, 1956 - January 23, 2011) was an American politician who served as the 44th President of the United States from January 20, 2009, until his assassination on January 23, 2011, and as the 46th Vice President of the United States from 2001 to 2009 under President Harvey Scott. He was the first Jewish person in American history to become President and Vice President.

As a member of the Republican Party, he was previously a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio's 3rd district from 1995 to 2000.

Kramer was born in Powell, Ohio to Jeremy Kramer (1928-2005), a doctor and Emily Kramer (née Schwartz; born 1930), a professor. He has three siblings - James (born 1955), Edward (b. 1959) and Anna (b. 1960).

Kramer attended Frederick Douglass High School and graduated in 1974. He attended Occidental College, where he met his future wife Jennifer Snowden (born 1956). After graduating in 1978, he worked as an aide for U.S. Representative George Carter.

He married Snowden in 1980 and had five children - James (b. 1981), Diane (b. 1982), Julia (b. 1989), Stephanie (b. 1993) and Raymond (1996-2013).

Kramer worked as a financial lawyer at Goldman and Hauer from 1984 to 1994, before announcing his intention to run for Congress.

He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in the 1994 mid-term elections, defeating incumbent Democrat Harry Vance by a 1.5% margin. (Two other future Vice Presidents turned Presidents were elected to the House in 1994 - Blake Jasper, who would be Kramer's running mate in 14 years and later ascend to the presidency upon his death, and Donald Byrne, who would become Jasper's vice president in 16 years and then succeed him after his resignation).

Kramer was selected as the running mate to Republican nominee Governor Harvey Scott of North Dakota in the 2000 presidential election, where they eventually defeated the Democratic ticket of Governor Eric Snell of Oregon and Senator James Fuller of Oregon. Scott and Kramer were inaugurated as President and Vice President on January 20, 2001. Kramer made history as the first person of the Jewish faith to become Vice President of the United States.

Both Scott and Kramer were well liked during their first term, with both men averaging a 54% approval rating.

They were re-elected in 2004, defeating Senator Ryan Peterson of Maine and Governor George Foster of Nevada.

After winning the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, Kramer went on to win the 2008 presidential election with running mate Senator Blake Jasper of Texas, defeating the Democratic ticket of Governor Bradley Garland of California and Senator Steven Green of Illinois. They were inaugurated as President and Vice President on January 20, 2009. Kramer set another record as the first Jew to become President.

On March 18, 2010, fourteen months into Kramer's presidency, his son Raymond was kidnapped by terrorists but was rescued with the help of Vice President Jasper's son, Henry Jasper.

At 1:35 pm on January 23, 2011, President Kramer was shot and killed in the Oval Office. Henry Jasper, the son of Vice President Jasper, was holding the gun that killed him but the trigger was pulled remotely by hitman Duane Somers. Vice President Jasper was soon inaugurated as President and would pardon his son on January 27.

Kramer was 54 years of age at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, former First Lady of the United States Jennifer Kramer and their four surviving children. His son Raymond, First Lady Amanda Jasper and her son Will Jasper were murdered on March 9, 2013.

Blake Jasper

Henry Blake Jasper II (June 7, 1964 - December 31, 2014) was an American politician who served as the 45th President of the United States from January 23, 2011, until his resignation on March 9, 2013. He assumed the office after serving as the 47th Vice President of the United States to President Gavin Kramer from 2009 to 2011.

As a member of the Republican Party, he previously served as the United States Senator from Texas from 2001 to 2009 and as a member of the United States House of Representatives from Texas' 8th district from 1995 to 2001.

Jasper was born the third of three children to Henry Blake Jasper Sr. (1928-2016) and Yvette Jasper (née Jones; 1929-2007) in Plano, Texas. He has two siblings - John (born 1960) and James (born 1962).

He graduated from Deer Park High in 1982. He was lifelong friends with Donald Byrne, a future Congressman who would eventually become his Vice President and then President in his own right. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a political science major in 1986.

Jasper married his high school sweetheart Amelia Jordan (1964-2013) in 1990 and had three children - Eliza (b. 1995), Henry (b. 1996) and Will (1997-2013).

He worked at public relations and marketing firm Birch Gold from 1987 to 1994, when he left to run for Congress. After incumbent Republican William Haskell retired, Jasper was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in the 1994 midterm elections, defeating Democrat opponent Hazel Greer by a 0.5% margin in a very close election. (Two other future Vice Presidents turned Presidents were elected to the House that year - Gavin Kramer, whom he would serve under as VP and ultimately succeed after his death, and his friend Donald Byrne, who would serve under him and succeed him after his resignation).

After three terms in the House of Representatives, Jasper was elected to the Senate in 2000, defeating Democratic incumbent Geraldine Baker by a 2% margin. He was eventually re-elected in 2006.

Vice President Gavin Kramer became the Republican presidential nominee in 2008 and selected Jasper as his running mate. They went on to defeat Governor Bradley Garland of California and Senator Steven Green of Illinois in the 2008 presidential election. They were inaugurated as President and Vice President on January 20, 2009.

At 1:35 pm on January 23, 2011, President Kramer was assassinated in the Oval Office. Jasper's son, Henry Jasper, was holding the gun that killed him, but the bullet was fired remotely by hitman Duane Somers.

At 2:00 pm that day, Jasper was inaugurated as President. His ascension to the presidency was met with controversy, as it was widely speculated that he would issue a presidential pardon of his son, who was the prime suspect in the assassination of President Kramer. However, evidence exonerating Henry was produced, and Jasper issued the pardon on January 27. The incident severely strained Jasper's relationship with his son. However, he and Henry reconciled.

On April 1, 2011, he nominated longtime friend Senator Donald Byrne of New York to be his Vice President. This selection caused controversy as Byrne was a Democrat and only one Vice-President in American history did not match the party of his President. However, on August 19, his nomination was approved by the Senate, who voted him in 75 to 22. Byrne was inaugurated as the Vice President on August 20.

At 5:30 pm on July 23, 2012, just months before the presidential election, President Jasper and Vice President Byrne were in the White House when it fell victim to a large-scale anthrax attack. Thirty people, including eight members of the President's cabinet, were killed. However, The President and Vice President miraculously survived with only minor respiratory issues. President Jasper issued a statement at 11:30 pm that night that he was relatively unscathed and that the perpetrator of the attack would be brought to justice.

On November 6, Jasper was elected to the presidency in his own right, with he and Vice President Byrne defeating the Democratic ticket of Senator Joanne Cox of Michigan and Representative George Hanson of Tennessee in the 2012 presidential election. Jasper and Byrne were reinaugurated privately as President and Vice President on January 20, 2013, which fell on a Sunday, and again publicly on January 21.

On the night of March 9, 2013, around 8:10 pm, his wife Amanda Jasper, the First Lady of the United States, their son Will, and Raymond Kramer, son of deceased President Gavin Kramer, were brutally murdered. Henry Jasper's girlfriend, Jacinta Foxworthy, was brutally attacked and left comatose. She died after her life support was switched off on January 29, 2015.

Overcome with immense grief and sorrow, President Jasper made a tearful address to the nation on 8:54 pm, announcing that he would resign, just 49 days into his second term. At 9:30 pm, Vice President Byrne was sworn in as President.

The nation was plunged in shock and despair in the aftermath of the murders and Jasper's resignation. President Byrne held a heartfelt candlelight vigil on the White House on March 11 and paid tribute to Jasper for his steely resolve during times of tremendous crisis.

Jasper briefly returned to Texas before returning to Washington, D.C. to remain a close confidant to President Byrne.

At 11:38 pm on the night of December 31, 2014, Jasper was murdered by a hitman, who was later revealed to be hired by Vice President Alexandra Kingsley. He was 50 years old. President Byrne was also targeted by Kingsley on the same night but ultimately survived.

He is survived by his two remaining children, Henry and Eliza.

Donald Byrne

Donald Stephen Byrne (born April 17, 1965) is an American politician who served as the 46th President of the United States from March 9, 2013, to January 20, 2017, as well as the 48th Vice President of the United States from 2011 to 2013. He was the second African-American to serve as President after Francis Moore served from 1993 to 2001 and the first to serve as Vice President. He was also the first bachelor President since James Buchanan and the first ever bachelor Vice President.

He previously served as the United States Senator from New York from 1999 to 2011 and a member of the United States House of Representatives from New York's 12th district from 1995 to 1999.

Byrne was born in Plano, Texas to Stephen "Steve" Byrne (1936-1979), a dentist and Penelope Byrne (née Wilson; 1939-). He has two siblings, John (1967-) and Eliza (1969-). When Byrne was 13, his father Steve passed away from a heart attack at the age of 42 on February 11, 1979.

Byrne was lifelong friends with Blake Jasper (1964-2014), a future Congressman and President whom he would serve under as Vice President. After graduating from Deer Park High in 1983, Byrne moved to New York City to study at Fordham University. He graduated in 1987 and went on to study law at NYU School of Law.

Byrne briefly worked as a partner at Houseman Lawyers, a major New York law firm, before running for Congress. He was successfully elected to the House of Representatives in 1994, defeating Republican challenger Peter Stevenson by a 6.4% margin. After serving two terms, he was elected to the Senate in 1998 defeating Republican challenger Tom Goldwell by an 8.4% margin. He was re-elected twice, in 2004 and 2010.

On January 23, 2011, President Gavin Kramer was assassinated in the Oval Office. Vice President Jasper, whose son was implicated in the murder, was sworn in as President soon after.

On April 1, 2011, President Jasper nominated Byrne, a longtime close friend, to be his Vice President. This was controversial, as Jasper was a Republican and Byrne was a Democrat. Only one Vice President in history had a different party from his President, and nominating a Vice President from the opposing party was quite unusual, to say the least. However, Byrne was renowned for supporting policy proposals from either side of the aisle. Republican National Committee chairman David Fairbanks voiced his support for Byrne's nomination and various conservative pundits followed suit.

On August 19, 2011, Byrne's nomination was finally approved by the Senate, with 75 voting for and 22 voting against. On the following day, Byrne was officially sworn in as Vice President. He switched his party registration from Democratic to Republican on August 23, the first Vice President to ever do so.

On July 23, 2012, just months before the presidential election, President Jasper and Vice President Byrne were in the White House as it fell victim to a large-scale anthrax attack. Thirty people died, including eight members of Jasper's cabinet, but the President and the Vice President miraculously survived with minor injuries.

On November 6, Jasper and Byrne were elected in their own right as President and Vice President, defeating the Democratic ticket of Senator Joanne Cox of Michigan and Representative George Hanson of Tennessee in the 2012 presidential election. They were reinaugurated privately on January 20, 2013, which fell on a Sunday, and again publicly on January 21.

On the night of March 9, 2013, around 8:10 pm Amanda Jasper, the First Lady of the United States, her son Will Jasper and Raymond Kramer, son of deceased President Gavin Kramer, were brutally murdered. In unspeakable grief, on 8:54 pm, President Jasper announced that he would resign effective immediately. At 9:30 pm, Vice President Byrne was sworn in as President, becoming the third person to hold the office in over four years.

He held a public candlelight vigil at the White House, honoring the memories of First Lady Jasper, her son and Raymond Kramer on March 11, and paid tribute to his predecessor for his courage and tenacity in the face of crisis.

On April 30, he nominated Senator Alexandra Kingsley of Maryland (1969-2014) as his Vice President. The situation, again, was controversial as Kingsley was a Democrat and Byrne had recently become a Republican. However, she was approved 78-19 by the Senate on September 12. Kingsley was inaugurated the following day, becoming the 49th Vice President of the United States and the first female to ever serve as Vice President.

It was discovered in early 2014 that President Byrne, a bachelor, and Vice President Kingsley were engaged in an affair. This scandal was tremendously embarrassing and almost ended Kingsley's marriage to Thomas Kingsley, then the Second Gentleman of the United States. However, she and her husband reconciled.

On December 31, 2014, at 11:40 pm, President Byrne was seriously injured when the presidential helicopter Marine One was shot down in an assassination attempt over Washington, D.C. Five people were killed, but Byrne and three others survived the crash. However, Byrne was incapacitated and quickly transported to Johns Hopkins Medical Centre in Baltimore, Maryland. The President stayed in the intensive care unit for eight weeks before being released. Vice President Kingsley would pass away that same night at the age of 45 after a fatal fall.

That same night, former President Blake Jasper was found murdered. It was revealed on March 12, 2015, that the murder of Jasper and the attempted murder of President Byrne was orchestrated by the deceased Vice President Kingsley.

After Kingsley's death, John Hammond (1952-), the Republican Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, served as Acting President in Byrne's absence from January 1, 2015, until February 27, 2015.

After recovering from his injuries, President Byrne returned to the White House on February 27. He immediately announced that he would not run for re-election and dedicated the remainder of his term to the memory of Blake Jasper.

In a gesture of gratitude for Hammond's leadership during his incapacitation, Byrne nominated him for the vacant role of Vice President on March 1. Hammond accepted the nomination, and he was approved unanimously by the Senate on May 24. Hammond was inaugurated in as the 50th Vice President of the United States on May 25, 2015.

Byrne left office on January 20, 2017, and was succeeded by Oliver Thwaites (1960-), the former Governor of North Carolina.
